We arrived in Gdansk<\/a> on a rather cold Friday night. It was so late by the time we arrived that we barely saw anything of the city and seeing as it was our first time in Poland, I can’t even say that we knew what to expect. \ud83d\ude42 Still, the four of us (me, Lloyd, Georgia and Chris) had used a birthday celebration as a reason to visit this city and so we were rather eager to get out and see Gdansk properly the very next morning (after breakfast of course…)<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

From the get-go, I was already impressed by the architecture here…(it’s probably easy to see why).<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

Seeing that fountain above made me wish it was nice and warm, I’d love to run through those rings. Even in the freezing cold, I was still tempted to do it but thought better of it.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

The biggest thing that struck a cord with me as we lazily meandered through the streets was how colourful Gdansk was. Not that I was expecting it to  be grey or anything but I just had no clue what to expect. We’ve been so busy travelling lately that I have to admit, my pre-trip research has fallen to the wayside a bit. Makes for more of a surprise when you get there I guess. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Gdansk also has one of the fanciest market buildings I’ve ever seen…<\/p>\n

…complete with it’s original foundation.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

All this meandering finally led us to the proper heart of the Old Town of Gdansk which absolutely surpassed my imagination and made me wonder why we’d never visited Poland (as a whole) before.<\/p>\n
