Glasgow<\/a> is such a spectacular city, being the largest in Scotland and one of the top five largest in the UK.<\/p>\n

Like its friendly neighbour, Edinburgh<\/a>, Glasgow is steeped in ancient and long-living history that you can immerse yourself in. Take a look at some of my favourite things to do while you visit one of Scotland’s most vibrant cities.<\/p>\n

1.) Discover the <\/b><\/span>West End<\/h3>\n

Glasgow’s West End is full of quaint, narrow lanes, little shops and pretty, historic buildings. Ideal to get lost in for an afternoon. <\/span><\/p>\n

3.) Head to a concert<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Glasgow has an incredibly high density of music venues, putting together more than 130 shows per week. No wonder it was named UNESCO City of Music in 2008. <\/span><\/p>\n

Street art feels at home in Glasgow, just like some outstanding museums. Definitely, don’t miss the Kelvingrove Museum \u2013 the building itself is already amazing.<\/span><\/p>\n

5.) Gorge in the city<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

With over 1,800 restaurants and caf\u00e9s, one can’t go hungry for long. Additionally, chefs from literally all over the world are at the pots in Glasgow, so pick your favourite for the night and eat away. Alternatively, head to Glasgow in January and take part in your very own Burns Night Supper<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Alternatively, let your taste buds take an exciting culinary tour with some (in)famous Scottish fried Mars Bars! <\/p>\n

6.) Grab a tipple<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

You’re in Scotland, so it’s true to say that whiskey is never far away. Glasgow has a vibrant bar scene which offers all sorts of excellent whiskeys, smooth ales and innovative craft beers. Definitely, plan at least one big night out and enjoy some of Scotland’s finest malts.<\/span><\/p>\n

The ‘Pot Still’ is one of the best places to try a range of Scottish Whiskies, with literally hundreds to choose from, you can’t go wrong!<\/p>\n

7.) Attend one of the amazing festivals<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

8.) Bring some cash to the Barras<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Situated in the East End of Glasgow, The Barras (Scottish for the Barrows) is a refreshingly different market with prices so cheap it’s almost a steal. From fruit and veggies to kilts, antiques and books you can find almost anything there.<\/span><\/p>\n

To be honest, it’s the kind of place you’ll either love or hate. There’s no in-between. <\/p>\n

9.) Chill in the parks<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Glasgow is green, very green actually.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are beautiful parks, lots of trees and the Kelvin walkway, a lush and quiet oasis that lets you forget you’re still in the city.<\/span><\/p>\n

10.) Expand your trip <\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

After you explored every last corner of the city, head out to the countryside. If you’re a mountain biker or enjoy hiking, you don’t have to go far \u2013 Glasgow is surrounded by mountains and lochs with trails and secret spots just waiting to be discovered.<\/span><\/p>\n

Head to Loch Lomond, which sits on the ‘Highland Boundary Fault’ to see dramatic differences in the natural landscape. <\/span><\/p>\n

11.) Join A Santa Dash<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Each year, visitors and Glaswegians alike have an opportunity to join one of the city’s most amazing charity events, ‘Santa Dash’.<\/p>\n

This event consists of thousands upon thousands of Father Christmases running around Glasgow – why not get into the spirit, join in and raise money for charity too?<\/p>\n
