Essentially, it’s an chasm that runs down to\u00a0103 metres (338\u00a0ft) deep at which point you can find an underground river.<\/p>\n

Gouffre de Padirac is one of those popular tourist attractions that makes you wonder why you hadn’t heard about it sooner. It’s been a major tourist attraction in France since 1898! Fancy that.<\/p>\n

You navigate the caves initially by foot and then by boat once you get down to the bottom. HOW TO GET THERE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fly into Brive or Bergerac airports and drive from there. Brive is the closer airport of the two and is a 48 minute drive from there. Bergerac airport still involves a train journey (just over an hour) to Sarlat and then a 57 minute car\/bus\u00a0ride.<\/p>\n

Alternatively, if you’re already planning to be in the Lot department or in the\u00a0Midi-Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es area, then a quick drive up here is highly recommended.<\/p>\n
