After we left the Frost and Fire hotel<\/a>, we headed straight for our next stop and a personal favourite of mine – Seljalandsfoss en-route to Hotel Skogafoss<\/a> for lunch.<\/p>\n

Seljalandsfoss is the waterfall in Iceland where you can walk behind and I was excited to visit again. <\/p>\n

\"Seljalandsfoss<\/a><\/p>\n

It’s safe to say Georgia was pretty fascinated by the waterfalls too! Talk about a photography angle…<\/p>\n

\"Seljalandsfoss<\/a><\/p>\n

Well as it turns out, due to all the snow, we couldn’t walk around the waterfall! It was also really windy so it would definitely not have been advised!<\/p>\n

We did try to walk as close to the waterfalls as possible though.<\/p>\n

It’s still as glorious as ever!<\/p>\n

It was immense. <\/p>\n

Of course, the Facebook check-in selfies had to be done! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

The melting ice and geothermal activity made for this somewhat cool little natural fountain.<\/p>\n

The weather had actually been terrible before (remember the storm warnings? Well they were still in force and so we were pleasantly surprised to find the sun shining in the afternoon!)<\/p>\n

\"Seljalandsfoss<\/a><\/p>\n

Told you those selfies were important to get!<\/p>\n

Look at the tiny waterfalls on the mountain below, it’s so windy they’re actually blowing uphill instead of downhill!<\/p>\n

\"Seljalandsfoss<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Seljalandsfoss<\/a><\/p>\n

Aha! Now there’s that storm that we’d been warned about! We quickly jumped into the car and headed to our next stop…<\/p>\n

And finally, we arrived at our destination for the afternoon, Hotel Skogafoss<\/a> and the magnificent Skogafoss! And what a better welcome than with double rainbows?<\/p>\n

But first things first; lunch!<\/p>\n

\"Seljalandsfoss<\/a><\/p>\n

From the restaurant at the hotel, you get perfect views of the waterfall.<\/p>\n

\"Seljalandsfoss<\/a><\/p>\n

Not a bad backdrop for lunch, right?<\/p>\n

\"Seljalandsfoss<\/a><\/p>\n

Georgia and Lloyd went for Chicken Caesar salads… Suckers! Hahaha!!!<\/p>\n

Everyone knows Icelandic lamb is the way to go! (The salads were actually quite amazing as I was reliably informed but I love Icelandic lamb!)<\/p>\n

Just look at that beauty! And trust me, it tastes as amazing as it looks.<\/p>\n

Actually, it tastes even better than it looks! It was UH-MAZING!!!<\/p>\n

\"Seljalandsfoss<\/a><\/p>\n

That’s my excited “I’m so hungry<\/em>” face!<\/p>\n

\"Seljalandsfoss<\/a><\/p>\n

Finally, we ventured out to what I consider to be one of the most magnificent and most powerful waterfalls in Iceland – Skogafoss!<\/p>\n

\"Seljalandsfoss<\/a><\/p>\n

And the rainbow came right back out again! It was quite frankly, brilliant (and great photography fodder too).<\/p>\n

You could see where the rainbow ended, it was that great and almost enough temptation to go looking for the fabled ‘pot of gold’ at the end of the rainbow.<\/p>\n

But we were all too distracted taking photos instead!<\/p>\n

\"Seljalandsfoss<\/a><\/p>\n

You could also walk up the side of the mountain to get to the top of the waterfall. It seemed like a pretty tough walk; especially after such a tasty lunch.<\/p>\n

FYI, we did not walk up the mountains.<\/p>\n

\"Seljalandsfoss<\/a><\/p>\n

With our full bellies, we all talked about how much we would love to walk to the top and quickly fobbed it off with lame excuses about how the view was probably much better from the bottom anyway…<\/p>\n

…That kind of excuse-making is why I’m still holding on to my Christmas weight which I need to shake off before the start of summer holidays!<\/p>\n
