When in Bali<\/a>, one activity that comes highly recommend is driving, walking or even cycling (if you’re brave enough) up to the village of Kintamani to get a fantastic view of Mount Batur.<\/p>\n

Mount Batur is an active volcano (the last eruption was in 2000) and is also bordered by Danau Batur (a lake) which just adds to the dramatic beauty of Mount Batur.<\/p>\n

On the other side of Lake Batur (from where we were, it was on the right) was Mount Abang which was apparently part of Mount Batur back in prehistoric times until separated by a huge eruption. (Gunung is the Indonesian and Malaysian word for Mountain so Gunung Batur translates to Mount Batur in English so look out for one or the other when in Bali).<\/p>\n

Upon arrival, we were very quickly reminded that we were high up in the mountains as the temperatures dipped considerably!<\/p>\n

It was very warm and humid (although in a nice way) back in our hotel a down the road from Kuta Beach but by the time we got up to Kintamani, it was jacket weather (and of course we didn\u2019t bring any jackets so we just had to grin and bear it).<\/p>\n

We got used to the cold eventually so it wasn\u2019t too bad but just remember to take a light jacket or cardigan with you when you go.<\/p>\n

On arrival in Kintamani, after an impromptu car stop and lots of \u201cOooh\u201ding and \u201cAaah\u201ding at the view, our (very patient) driver took us to a restaurant which offered amazing views of Mount Batur.<\/p>\n

It is one of the most calming and beautiful scenes imaginable and truly one for the postcards. It\u2019s so quiet and serene and yet in a weird way, almost ominous as this calm exterior hides a devastatingly powerful volcano.<\/p>\n

We soaked in the views as we ate our lunch (which wasn\u2019t great, to be honest but with a view like that, you\u2019re not really going to complain now are you? \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

And, as you can imagine, A LOT of selfies were also taken to share with friends back home on ye olde \u201cBook of the Face\u201d.<\/p>\n
