Yup! You heard right! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

The south of France is synonymous with beautiful beaches, great weather and I guess a truly decadent lifestyle yet it is also full of so much amazing history and sights.<\/p>\n

In the interest of full disclosure, I hadn\u2019t heard much about Nimes until I was looking on SkyScanner.net for a good old travel deal and came across an amazing bargain to visit Nimes.<\/p>\n

The flights were cheap and when I looked at the accommodation, it was also unbelievably cheap (the total price was about \u00a350 for flights and accommodation on a weekend away)! Pretty impressive huh?<\/p>\n

I wasn\u2019t sure what to fully expect but a quick scan of the good old internet got me truly excited to visit Nimes.<\/p>\n

Nimes contains some of the most important remains of the Roman Empire (as you\u2019ll see soon) and is an impressive city to spend a holiday.<\/p>\n

The Roman aspect is quite a unique factor for this city as it is French, not Italian but those Romans did get around quite a bit.<\/p>\n

Nimes is also near the Pont Du Gard bridge which is worth visiting if you have a car or a long enough stay to catch a bus or taxi there. In typical Hand Luggage Only style, I\u2019ll walk you through what we got up to in Old Rome via Southern France!<\/p>\n

First off, we headed out to the hotel to drop our things off after a rather early flight! This comes with the territory of getting cheap deals and we\u2019re kinda used to this now.<\/p>\n

…then the hunt for breakfast began in earnest!<\/p>\n

We soon found a nice patisserie and began to wreak havoc on some pastries!<\/p>\n

Then the city exploration began in earnest – but not before a few vain photos ye olde Facebook\u2026<\/p>\n

Try to spot the obvious Roman buildings\u2026<\/p>\n

\"Visit<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Visit<\/a><\/p>\n

Someone\u2019s got an over-inflated sense of their strength\u2026<\/p>\n

We soon headed off back to the hotel which was amazing and in keeping with the city! It was so rustic with even a cute courtyard where breakfast was served the next morning! Loved it!<\/p>\n

Headed back out to get some lunch and carried on sightseeing<\/p>\n

Lloyd\u2019s turning into something of a tyrant I think\u2026.<\/p>\n

Eventually went back to the hotel for a quick nap which was needed after the early start! Got changed and got ready to see what Nimes was like at night!<\/p>\n

Not before dinner of course during which we were placed under a trance by some amazing Creme Br\u00fbl\u00e9e\u2026<\/p>\n

Creme Br\u00fbl\u00e9e trance over, we headed off into the night where we came across a street festival\u2026 at this point, I remembered the receptionist talking about this when we checked in but in my \u2018excitement haze\u2019 I don\u2019t think I was paying attention.<\/p>\n

Needless to say, we spent the rest of the night dancing with strangers-turned-friends to music by live performers.<\/p>\n

\u2026before making our way back home through the streets of Nimes, exhausted but thoroughly entertained!<\/p>\n
