It happens to the best of us! Monday morning arrives and all we can think about is heading on our next holiday. Honestly, planning your trip can be a daunting task in itself. After all, you need to plan all the things to do, places to see and the best islands to visit if you’re near the coast. <\/p>\n

These questions all amount to what usually ends up being hours of research to plan your perfect getaway.<\/p>\n

This being the case, I figured that I’d try to make your summer (or even winter) getaway that little bit easier by sharing some of the best islands to visit this year. <\/p>\n

1.) Phi Phi Islands, Thailand<\/strong><\/h3>\n

An island made famous from the now-famous scene from the film The Beach.<\/p>\n

A true tropical paradise, surrounded by the thick tropical rain forests and awesome mountains that make up the majority of this island. Phi Phi Island<\/a> is a great place to relax, soak up the tranquillity and enjoy some young coconut, directly from the nut.<\/p>\n

Top tip:<\/strong><\/em> Stay at least one night on Phi-Phi and experience the silence of the sunrise! A truly magnificent experience.<\/p>\n

One thing to remember, Maya Bay does close in certain seasons, so make sure you check before heading out to explore one of the best islands to visit.<\/p>\n

2.) Gozo<\/h3>\n

This tiny little island sits just a few miles off the coast on Malta<\/a> in the southern Mediterranean. It truly is one of the best islands to visit in the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n

Like its neighbour, Gozo is blessed with beautifully sunny summers that fill the island with a lush array of wildflowers and fruits that grow naturally on the island. Gozo is traditionally a fishing island, and still maintains the rural charms that make it a popular visiting spot.<\/p>\n

Top tip:<\/strong><\/em> Check out the times of the ferries that take you back to Malta (the flights are usually via Malta after which you catch a ferry to and from Gozo) otherwise you might find yourself on the island for longer than intended.<\/p>\n

3.) Singapore<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This island country is situated right on the edge of the Malaysian peninsular and is easily one of the best islands to visit if you want a vibrant city experience. Singapore is a country filled with great nature, urban adventures in a tropical paradise.<\/p>\n

If your perfect holiday is shopping till you drop, head to Orchard in Singapore for a hefty range of designer boutiques, high street names and super brands that will make your mouth water (and your wallets wince).<\/p>\n

4.) Formentera<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Situated less than 10km away from Ibiza<\/a>, Formentera is the picturesque little sister of its bigger Balearic Island siblings – particularly Ibiza! Its situation alone makes it one of the best islands to visit but is often overlooked by some visitors.<\/p>\n

Situated off the western coast of Cornwall in the United Kingdom  – the Scilly Isles<\/a> is a paradise and some of the best islands to visit in the UK. Filled with a blossoming array of flowers that turn these archipelagos into a northern hemisphere tropical paradise.<\/p>\n

Courtesy of the Jet Stream blown over the Atlantic Ocean – these island gain much warmer temperatures than the rest of the UK. Get here by small plane, boat or helicopter from Cornwall.<\/p>\n

6.) Cape Verde<\/strong><\/h3>\n

 About to become one of the biggest new vacation hot spots – watch out for how popular this range of islands becomes. It really is one of the best islands to visit off the coast of Africa.<\/p>\n

Situated 400 miles off the coast of Senegal, West Africa – this former Portuguese island is a 6.5-hour flight from the UK.<\/p>\n

7.) Santorini<\/strong><\/h3>\n

8.) Pitcairn Islands<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Now, these are very hard to get to and a VERY LONG flight from the UK. Though, these British Islands are a true paradise that shouldn’t be missed.<\/p>\n

Now, probably the easiest way to get here is via flying to Mangareva from Tahiti itself. Once here, you then pop over to the airport ferries to the Gambier Islands. It’s a long journey, but worth it.<\/p>\n

With very little tourism and locals that keep such great stewardship of these islands, Pitcairn provides one of the most spectacular places to swim, surf and generally enjoy maritime wildlife.<\/p>\n

Top tip:<\/strong> <\/em>Try and book your excursion way in advance\u2026 this is a relatively expensive holiday, but well worth it to experience one of the best islands to visit.<\/p>\n

Arguably, one of the best known of our islands in this post, Cuba, situated less than a 100 miles from the southern tip of Florida has some of the most amazing beaches, foods and culture that you can ever imagine.<\/p>\n
