The Retreat at Blue Lagoon<\/a> is so amazing. So much so that every time we visit Iceland, we always make it a point to stay at the Blue Lagoon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s actually something of a tradition now because it\u2019s what we did on the first trip and as we have such fond memories of it, it\u2019s become a must-do on every trip to Iceland.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also really close to the airport so it also feels quite practical too.<\/p>\n

Our relaxed day before turned out not to be so relaxed but being able to see puffins so close (and for free – without any tours) and also Dyrh\u00f3laey (finally!)<\/a> meant that downtime in The Retreat at Blue Lagoon was something we were looking forward to so much that we showed up 3 hours before check-in even opened.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Let me show you around the stunning rooms at the Blue Lagoon<\/a>… and the general area here.<\/p>\n

The rooms are absolutely gorgeous, but in that stripped-back minimalist way Iceland and a lot of the Nordic countries are famous for.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s champagne to welcome you in the room, and everything in the minibar is included with your stay \u2013 even the alcoholic beverages.<\/p>\n

And it all gets topped up\/replaced in the evening with the turndown service.<\/p>\n

On this trip, we actually originally tried to book the Silica Hotel at Blue Lagoon<\/a>, but as I mentioned in this post here<\/a>, hotel bookings in Iceland in summer are wild.<\/p>\n

So many had sold out, and the Silica Hotel at The Blue Lagoon<\/a> was one of them. This left us with the uber chic, The Retreat at Blue Lagoon<\/a> to book, and so that\u2019s how we ended up staying there. I mean, I’m not complaning at all – it’s stunning. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The Retreat at Blue Lagoon<\/a>, however, just take things up a notch compared to The Silica Hotel at Blue Lagoon<\/a>. Several notches, actually.<\/p>\n

For starters, you are welcomed with champagne while the check-in staff all flutter around you to make sure you have everything you need.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The main spa is here, and it has this thing called The Rituals, which is like a skin cleansing and rejuvenation treatment, which, to be honest, I kinda initially rolled my eyes at.<\/p>\n

I think I was just sceptical because I have been to so many spas where people try to sell this idea of giving you this incredible treatment that’s unique to them, but actually has you feeling no different to any other spa or even like you had been to a spa to begin with.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Still, we were here, and I decided we\u2019d have to try it.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s so worth it, by the way.<\/p>\n

Your skin feels so incredible after and even for days after, I\u2019d forget that we\u2019d done it and wonder why my skin looks and feels so good and then the memories of the treatment we\u2019d had here would come flooding back.<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t recommend it enough.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

You are not allowed to take photos in the spa so I can\u2019t show you much there.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also a private blue lagoon area<\/a> that only guests of The Retreat at Blue Lagoon<\/a> can visit (you can also if you are paying to go to the spa), and I realise now that you are not allowed to take photos there, but we actually did while we were there.<\/p>\n

To be fair, it was fairly late and there was no one else around, so it didn\u2019t really make much of a difference.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

It did feel so nice to have no one else around though because it kinda felt like we had the whole place all to ourselves.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Afternoon tea is also provided as part of your stay here, and aside from that and a visit to the restaurant for dinner, we pretty much spent the entire day just relaxing in the rather warm waters of The Retreat at Blue Lagoon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It was magnificent.<\/p>\n
