The next morning in Nurburgring<\/a>, we woke up to what felt like torrential rain (at the time anyway) but none of that put a dampener on things \u2013 today we would finally get to go on the famous Nurburgring Formula 1 track<\/a> at speeds of up to 270km\/h (approximately around 168m\/h) which would be a first for both of us.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not the biggest petrol head out there but even I could appreciate how amazing an experience like this would be like.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s so much memorabilia on ground worth checking out here, especially if you\u2019re even slightly into cars.<\/p>\n

With a free morning on our hands, we headed out to go watch the Formula Truck (which is essentially as it sounds; Formula 1 but with trucks).<\/p>\n

But yes, the Formula Truck. What an experience! \ud83d\ude04<\/p>\n

It\u2019s so strange to see trucks racing that fast and that powerfully. I didn\u2019t even know they could get to the speeds they did and how they manage not to topple over when they navigated corners is still something of a mystery to me.<\/p>\n

The race is also set against the backdrop of the beautiful Nurburg castle in the distance which I guess adds a little something to the proceedings.<\/p>\n

When you\u2019re here, you can actually go backstage to meet the racers\/teams and hopefully get a photo with your fave (not that I had one at the time) but if you\u2019re already into it, it\u2019s such a great experience to be able to see all aspects of it, not just the racing.<\/p>\n

Oh, by the way, there\u2019s also like an amusement park\/museum area here with rides in it (simulators and stuff) worth checking out.<\/p>\n

That rain from earlier soon disappeared though and what a difference it made!<\/p>\n

After grabbing a bite to eat and watching a few races, it was time for us to take on the tracks<\/a> ourselves.<\/p>\n

We headed over to grab the racing suits we\u2019d measured up for the day before<\/a> and hit those tracks.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve gotta admit, I was nervous just before going. Ironically, in parts because of the speed but mostly because of potentially feeling nauseous from zipping around the corners both of which proved absolutely fine for me (there\u2019s a whole video on here where you can see both of our reactions<\/a>) but not so much so for Lloyd! \ud83d\ude06<\/p>\n

Lloyd came back pale-faced \u2013 much to my amusement (unbeknownst to him, I\u2019d been taking bets with the team here that he would be, even though he seemed confident going into it).<\/p>\n

All in all, though, it was actually brilliant getting a first-hand look at what Formula 1 racers would have to go through on one of the most difficult tracks in not just Europe but arguably, in the world.<\/p>\n

We spent the rest of the afternoon exploring Nurburg\u2026<\/p>\n

before heading over to the diner next door for a quick bite to eat in prep for a night exploring the Formula Truck festival.<\/p>\n

See, the Formula Truck isn\u2019t just about the racing and cars but also has a whole party at night with bands playing, food and drinks flowing and is just brilliant fun!<\/p>\n

Expectations might lead you to believe that it might be one of those things that could get rowdy but that couldn\u2019t be further from the truth. It\u2019s such a family centred event that cuts across genders and ages and so everyone is out here just looking to have a great time.
