Toronto is easily one of my favourite cities in the world, and with good reason too! For starters, much as I\u2019d typically avoid comparing cities, it’s so reminiscent of the many reasons I love our home city of London and makes you feel right at home as soon as you step into it.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a myriad of different things to do in the city, and it just makes you feel like there\u2019s something for everyone here \u2013 no matter what your interests are. (Like seriously, you could tell me what sort of things you\u2019re interested in and I could find you at least 10 things at the drop of a hat that would keep you fascinated all weekend long).<\/p>\n

Now, our last trip to Toronto<\/a> was incredible, even if it was for only a few days (that\u2019s all you need to fall in love with Toronto \u2013 after that, you\u2019ll keep finding excuses to return to the city). On that trip, we started and finished our trip in Toronto with a solid chunk of time spent in the picturesque Niagara-on-the-Lake<\/a> (and the rather impressive Niagara Falls<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Now there are some places in Toronto that are like the must-see spots for the first-time visitor to the city. Though this isn\u2019t really about that (we\u2019ve got that in this post here<\/a>).<\/p>\n

This is more centred around having fun in the city and getting to explore and experience it in a way that will hopefully not leave your feet pounding at the end of the day, and leave your stomach in a state of constant delight the entire weekend.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the kind of weekend you want when you visit with friends and family and want to sink your teeth more into what makes the city so special. So let\u2019s get started with it, shall we? <\/p>\n

1.) EdgeWalk at the CN Tower<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"CN<\/a><\/p>\n

Okay, the EdgeWalk<\/a> isn\u2019t for the faint-hearted, but it\u2019s easily one of the most fun and exhilarating ways to spend a weekend in Toronto.<\/p>\n

After heading to the viewing platforms on our last trip, we decided to go for a little more of a challenge and walk on the outer perimeter of the viewing deck itself, which is the world\u2019s highest full-circle hand-free walk.<\/p>\n

After booking the EdgeWalk, you\u2019ll get all geared up and safety briefing before heading outside to walk the tower itself. I was so excited about doing this, though, I had to admit I was shaking by the time we stepped outside.<\/p>\n

It was so exhilarating, and it\u2019s probably one of the most unique ways to see Toronto from above. It was such an incredible experience.<\/p>\n

2.) Head to the patio at Bar Reyna<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Perched on Cumberland Street, Bar Reyna<\/a> is a pretty, inconspicuous little restaurant that serves up some of the tastiest Mediterranean fusion dishes.<\/p>\n

We opted for the Lebanese tacos, which were immense. Plus, plan your visit during the evening when live bands and singers play. We were lucky enough to catch Jessica Rose, who sang the smoothest blues-hued Jazz.<\/p>\n

Also, for an amazing place to stay, make sure to grab this room at Bisha<\/a>. We loved this hotel so much. It’s a total design-led hotel nd within easy reach of the iconic spots in Toronto. <\/p>\n

3.) Grab lunch at Chubby\u2019s Jamaican Kitchen<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Nestled in downtown Toronto, Chubby\u2019s<\/a> serves up some of the tastiest Jamaican food in all of Toronto. Once inside, make sure to try their jerk pork and their freshly fried plantains. Finish off with a homemade ginger beer or Blue Mountain latte that you can cut with coconut milk.<\/p>\n

Now, it does get busy, so make sure to book a table if you\u2019re short on time.<\/p>\n

4.) Explore the Distillery District<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Distillery District is one of those spots in Toronto that mixes a historic area with lots of new restaurants, breweries and independent shops. It\u2019s a great place to stroll on a lazy day on your weekend in Toronto.<\/p>\n

That being said, if you don\u2019t fancy a stroll, you can also hop on your very own Segway tour of the district itself. This can all be arranged at their office on Gristmill Street (in the heart of the Distillery District).  Plus, you can finish off your tour by stopping at a few of the stores and breweries.<\/p>\n

5.) Explore a festival or event<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The great thing about spending a weekend in Toronto is that there\u2019s usually something going on. While we visited, the Biennial of Art was happening throughout the city.<\/p>\n

This was the perfect opportunity to check out some Canadian and international art that\u2019s temporarily housed across the city.<\/p>\n

Each of the venues was totally free and it was such a great way to find different types of art.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

That being said, make sure to check Toronto\u2019s official webpage<\/a> for upcoming festivals and exhibitions that happen year-round.<\/p>\n

6.) Go for dinner at KIIN<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Perched on Adelaide Street, KIIN<\/a> is one of my favourite Thai restaurants in all of Toronto. Here, they serve up Thai cuisine from all over the country.<\/p>\n

Once you\u2019re here, make sure to try their dumplings, which are equally artistic and totally delicious.<\/p>\n

7.) Visit the Royal Ontario Museum<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Royal Ontario Museum<\/a> is easily one of the best things to do on a weekend in Toronto if you want to explore the museums in the city. Once you’ve booked your tickets<\/a>, you\u2019ll see everything from dinosaurs to diamonds – it\u2019s got everything.<\/p>\n

Plus, you can also book special exhibit tickets<\/a> that are worth it for more sought-after collections. <\/p>\n

Oh, and don\u2019t forget to check the evening events they run, too. When we visited, ROM Friday Night Live was in full swing. Book your tickets online<\/a> and hop on over for a Friday night in the Museum.<\/p>\n

Once inside, they have DJs, performers, dance floors, food and lots of cocktail spots. It\u2019s so much fun!<\/p>\n

8.) Tour Toronto by Helicopter<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If you\u2019re a sucker for good views, then book these Helitours at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport<\/a>. Best of all, the airport is right in the city (and accessible via a pedestrian tunnel under Lake Ontario. Just make sure to book this helicopter tour<\/a> before you set off. Seats are, obviously, limited, and it does get busy on weekends. <\/p>\n

Based on Dundas Street West, La Palma<\/a> is a fantastic foodie spot that you can\u2019t miss on a weekend in Toronto.<\/p>\n

While you’re here, make sure to try their lobster sliders for starters and their 100-layer lasagne, which will leave you stuffed. It\u2019s so good. As with most yummy spots in the city, make sure to reserve a table to guarantee a seat at a certain time.<\/p>\n

Plus, they have an exceptional cocktail menu that you cannot miss. <\/p>\n

10.) Explore AGO<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Art Gallery of Ontario<\/a> is easily one of my favourite spots in the city and a great place to visit during a weekend in Toronto.<\/p>\n

One of the largest art galleries in North America, AGO can be visited for days. Once inside, make sure to see the Infinity Mirrored Room by Yayoi Kusama, which is now housed there permanently.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t forget to wander through the different floors and rooms with both permanent and temporary exhibitions. If you love art, you\u2019ll love this place.<\/p>\n

11.) Head on a guided foodie tour<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If you\u2019re looking for a foodie experience, then you\u2019ll totally love the foodie tours that go on throughout Toronto<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We had the most incredible time. Stopping off at some delicious spots like Bar Ravel and other spots in the market. Naturally, the spots change seasonally, which means you never get the same place twice! <\/p>\n

This foodie tour of Toronto<\/a> is a great way to spend an evening, especially if you don\u2019t have time to explore many different restaurants in the city.<\/p>\n

12.) Go for a drag brunch<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This might be one of the most fun brunch events we\u2019ve ever attended! Based at the Gladstone Hotel, they host an epic drag brunch<\/a> on Sunday mornings\/early afternoon that\u2019s hilarious and fun. We saw Miss Moco, who you might know from Canada’s Drag Race.  You\u2019ll leave aching from dancing and laughing so much.<\/p>\n

Hosted by Miss Mo\u00e7o<\/a>, a local drag queen in Toronto, it\u2019s an epic way to spend a Sunday. Expect lots of cocktails and lots of singing.<\/p>\n

13.) Explore Kensington Market<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Every last Sunday of the month, Kensington Market is closed to cars and driving. This means that strollers can take over the whole area and explore on foot.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In so many ways, Kensington Market reminds me of Camden Town<\/a> in London. It has that alternative vibe and loads of vintage and thrift stores selling everything you could ever imagine.<\/p>\n

Not only that, you have to see a whole heap of restaurants and buskers whilst you\u2019re here.<\/p>\n

14.) Gorge at Grey Gardens<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Grey Gardens<\/a> is, in my opinion, one of the tastiest spots in Kensington Market to stop off for a bite to eat.<\/p>\n
