On our final morning in the Jurassic Coast, after breakfast similar to the one the day before (see it here)<\/a>, we bade farewell to the Hix Townhouse and hit the road, heading back slowly up to London.<\/p>\n

We drove by some cute villages but decided this time not to stop \u2013 there was one place I really wanted to see today and despite initial plans to do this on our first day here, the lack of time (and fact that it was on the way back to London \u2013 though still in Dorset<\/a>) meant that it was something we\u2019d had to leave off till the final day.<\/p>\n

Said place is Old Harry Rocks \u2013 another key part of why I really wanted to visit Dorset in the first place (in addition to this amazing gem here<\/a>).<\/p>\n

First things first though \u2013 lunch! Between having breakfast, then packing up, stopping off in random cute villages and arriving at The Pig on the beach<\/a>, I\u2019d surprisingly worked up quite an appetite.<\/p>\n

By the way, there are actual pigs at The Pig and they\u2019re adorable! They\u2019re so friendly and surprisingly quite playful too.<\/p>\n

Now, The Pig is one of those places I didn\u2019t know much about till fairly recently (there are a few of them dotted around England) and even after I\u2019d heard about it, I approached it with a sense of scepticism. The reviews were so glowing all across the board that I was kinda (counter-intuitively) prepared to be disappointed.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow good can braised pork cheeks or cod be?<\/em>\u201d I thought.<\/p>\n

Turns out – very good!<\/p>\n

The only reason why we even decided to stop for lunch here was because we\u2019d seen it on the first day (when we drove here after Corfe Castle and decided we wouldn\u2019t have enough time to walk to Old Harry Rocks AND<\/em> visit Durdle Door in the same evening) and thought it was pretty convenient to stop for lunch here and leave the car parked here while we headed off to Old Harry Rocks.<\/p>\n

As soon as you step in though, you start to get a sense of why people love this place so much. It\u2019s just so cosy, homely and everyone you meet who works here is so attentive.<\/p>\n

The restaurant itself is set out in like a greenhouse\/conservatory area which I absolutely loved (you can pretty much pick herbs for your teas\/meal right from your table\u2026 though I don\u2019t know if you\u2019re allowed to. \ud83d\ude04)<\/p>\n

We started off with some crispy pork – my only regret of the meal as I ended up getting pork for mains as well\u2026 also, I thought the pork would have some skin with it. Lloyd, however, loves lean meat and wasn\u2019t having pork for mains so he hovered it all up! \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n

But yeah, like I said, I went for pork for mains and Lloyd went for cod for his. Boy, was it good! Like, you know when you have delicious food and it just puts you in a good mood \u2013 it was that good.<\/p>\n

By the time, we were done with the mains, all of my scepticism disappeared into thin air and I was a new convert to The Pig. (*I\u2019ve already checked prices to stay this summer and they\u2019re surprisingly quite decent given their reputation. The prices do go down in winter though).<\/p>\n

For dessert, I went for Apple Charlotte (never heard of it before but absolutely loved it) and Lloyd went for the Lemon meringue (another winner).<\/p>\n

Lunch over with, we decided to do a quick lap around The Pig (mostly so I could pick up my jumper from the car) before heading off in search of Old Harry Rocks.<\/p>\n

The walk to Old Harry Rocks is fairly easy and although it can take a few minutes to get to (like 25 \u2013 30 minutes), it\u2019s all really flat the entire way there.<\/p>\n

The view when you get to Old Harry Rock, both of the rocks and the Jurassic Coast is absolutely stunning!<\/p>\n

Sheer white cliffs, topped with cropped green grass that dip into cool blue seas\u2026 it\u2019s just beautiful!<\/p>\n

You do have to be careful with standing near the edges here though – these cliffs crumble from time to time.<\/p>\n

Eventually, we decided to say farewell to Old Harry Rocks and indeed to the Jurassic Coast and make our way back to London.<\/p>\n

This part of England is one that lots of people tend to visit in the summer months (the beaches are great and the weather is so much nicer here \u2013 oh, and then there\u2019s the delicious food too) but truth be told, it doesn\u2019t matter what time of the year you find yourself in England or indeed, with free time (if you live in England) \u2013 the Jurassic Coast<\/a> is one place you definitely have to add to you travel plans.<\/p>\n
