Whether it\u2019s your first trip to the United States<\/a>, your fifth, or you live there, I guarantee you\u2019ll always find an excuse to visit the East Coast. The whole coast has a totally rich history, charming chocolate-box villages to explore, and scenic beauty that always looks different depending on the season you visit.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n With that in mind, I wanted to share some of my favourite spots you should think of visiting on your trip to the East Coast. Some are smack-bang on the waterfront, whilst others are a few hours away. Regardless, they\u2019re all in the East, ergo why they\u2019re all \u2018East Coast\u2019, especially when you consider how huge the country is.<\/p>\n In any case, take a look at these beautiful places you have to see on your next trip within the East Coast USA, below. <\/p>\n After our 5-day trip recently, I\u2019m already itching to get back to this area and explore more. Now, lots of people seem to perceive Fort Lauderdale<\/a> as an \u2018offshoot\u2019 of Miami<\/a>. I assure you, it\u2019s not. It has a very different vibe and identity that\u2019s pretty amazing if you want a mix of chill time, culture and a heap of gorgeous natural sights to enjoy.<\/p>\n Unlike Miami, Fort Lauderdale\u2019s beaches are much quieter and peaceful, but just as (if not more) beautiful, which is great for a little splash around in the sun.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n If you\u2019re looking for art, head over to Hollywood<\/a>, Florida<\/a>, which is right next door to the city. Here you\u2019ll find a community that\u2019s built a reputation for incredible street art from creatives from all over the world. If nature is more your thing, pop out to the Everglades<\/a> and enjoy some of the local wildlife (you\u2019ll almost certainly spot a few alligators whilst you\u2019re there). <\/p>\n Looking for the best hotel in Fort Lauderdale<\/a>? Make sure to book this suite at Pier Sixty-Six<\/a>. This hotel is incredible and right in the heart of all the coastal action in Fort Lauderdale. We loved it so much, and it has one of the best pools in the city. This magical city may seem overwhelming at first, but spend a few days here, and we guarantee that you will fall in love with its energy and vibe.<\/p>\n There\u2019s just so much to see and do here that boredom is simply not an option. Obviously, if you\u2019re visiting for the first time, you need to visit some of the most iconic sites<\/a>, for sure. Also, don’t forget to stay in one of New York’s best hotels whilst you’re here. It is right on Fifth Avenue and the best place to base yourself if you’re exploring the top spots in Manhattan<\/a>. <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n Ramble over to the iconic Times Square, watch a Broadway<\/a> show (or two), visit Lady Liberty<\/a> (and Ellis Island), picnic at Central Park and see the sunset from the Empire State Building. If you\u2019ve been to New York before (and you\u2019ve checked off the usual suspects), take some time to explore some of the more secret spots in the city<\/a>.<\/p>\n To make things easier, book this New York City Pass discount ticket<\/a>. Trust me! <\/p>\n For the best hotel in the heart of the Financial District<\/a> of Manhattan, make sure to book this suite at The Wall Street Hotel<\/a> in New York City. Not only are the suites absolutely beautiful, but the rooftop bar veranda is so delicious. If you’re looking for a really special experience, book their Nesbitt Suite<\/a>. Absolutely iconic. There are literally hundreds of different hiking trails, making it the perfect summer spot if you\u2019re looking for a little slice of nature.<\/p>\n Fall is definitely a period when lots of people visit, especially to see the change of season. It really looks magical when the leaves change to a deep red.<\/p>\n Though, to be honest, you don\u2019t need to reserve your time to visit, and you can see historic spots like St. Andrew’s Cathedral at any time of the year. Whenever you decide to come, make sure you visit the gorgeous Carvins Cove Natural Reserve (Google Maps pin<\/a>) and the Roanoke Valley Greenways<\/a>, which are stunning to explore. You won\u2019t regret it!<\/p>\n Read more: Best things to do in Virginia<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n From the quirky Harbour area where you can experience street entertainers, concerts, and parades, to trendy shops, interesting museums, lip-smacking restaurants, quaint wineries, unique landmarks and more, Baltimore will charm your socks off.<\/p>\n After all, it\u2019s not called Charm City<\/em> for nothing. Ha! If you want to experience an old English Village<\/em> (Dickeyville), head to Fells Point (Google Maps pin<\/a>), which is the oldest part of Baltimore. Oh, also, you can\u2019t leave without trying some of the best crab cakes that Baltimore has to offer at the Thames Street Oyster House. Yum!<\/p>\n For a great hotel in Baltimore, check into the Four Seasons Baltimore<\/a>. Not only is this one of the best luxury hotels in the city<\/a>, but it also has one of the most amazing pools on the East Coast. It’s incredible, huge and the best way to spend a relaxing day in the city. <\/p>\n Read more: Best things to do in Maryland<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Your trip to the East Coast is incomplete without a visit to the capital of the United States<\/a>.If you’re hankering for some history, you’ll love iconic landmarks like the Lincoln Memorial, the US Capitol, the Supreme Court and the most famous house in the United States, the White House.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n I totally loved visiting the city, with one of my favourite areas being Georgetown (Google Maps pin<\/a>). It totally has a small town, a historic vibe with gorgeous coffee shops, independent stores and a whole lotta pretty buildings to enjoy.<\/p>\n The city also has some of the best museums in the country, including the National Museum of American History, the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History<\/a>, the National Gallery of Art, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum<\/a>, and even a quirky International Spy Museum.<\/p>\n Oh, and don\u2019t forget to spend an afternoon at the Eastern Market, explore the city on a bike, and gorge at Busboys and Poets (that serve the best<\/em> coconut tofu bites and waffles too). Also, for the best place to stay in Washington, DC, book this room at Sixty DC<\/a>. Filled with some of the best restaurants, art deco architecture, and happening nightlife, Miami is the place to be!<\/p>\n Spend some time at Little Havana, enjoy Cuban food<\/a> at the Versailles Restaurant, experience nature at its best at the Everglades National Park<\/a>, shop at Lincoln Road, and end the night with some salsa dancing at one of the many clubs that\u2019ll keep you up till the wee hours! For a great place to stay, check into The Setai<\/a>. It’s an iconic property in Miami and one of the best hotels on the whole East Coast<\/a>. You will love it. <\/p>\n For another great hotel in the heart of Miami Beach, make sure to book this suite at the Biltmore Hotel<\/a>, Miami Coral Gables. It’s incredible, and it’s such an oasis within Miami. You will have the best time. <\/p>\n Read more: Very best things to see, do and eat in Miami<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/p>\n Portland, in Maine,<\/a> is a charming town with gorgeous waterfront views that will win your heart, I\u2019m sure.<\/p>\n The Old Port, with its beautiful 19th-century buildings, cobblestone streets, craft shops, bookstores, and brick sidewalks, will almost make you feel like you\u2019ve swung back in time \u2013 it\u2019s so traditional and a must-see. If art is more your thing, the Portland Museum of Art, with its renowned exhibitions and impressive permanent collection, is also a must-see.<\/p>\n Of course, you cannot miss the iconic Portland Head Light<\/a>, which was built in 1791 and is the oldest lighthouse still in use in the U.S. You can also take a cruise or go whale watching. In my opinion, the East Coast has some of the best local lobster I\u2019ve ever tasted! If you\u2019re hankering for a bite to eat, pop into Eventide Oyster for some yummy local seafood. I promise you, if you\u2019re looking for a little slice of East Coast charm (away from the cities), you\u2019ll love this area.<\/p>\n There\u2019s a whole community of businesses and people who really embrace this gorgeous landscape, offering things like horseback rides, moose safaris, tubing in the Saco River (which is totally beautiful), and kayaking.<\/p>\n IF you\u2019re looking for more of a challenge, there\u2019s a whole heap of pretty tough mountain climbs (I’m naming you, Mount Washington) where you can work up a decent sweat and earn your dinner.<\/p>\n Read more: Best places to visit in New Hampshire<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Boston<\/a> is a must-visit city not just for its pivotal role in the history of the United States but because it has so much more to offer.<\/p>\n If it\u2019s your first visit to the city, pop into the historical landmarks like Plymouth Rock, walk the Freedom Trail<\/a>, explore Beacon Hill, head to the Charles River Esplanade, or just take a breather at the Boston Public Garden or the totally pretty Acorn Street.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n From here, you can also head over to Harvard, one of the United States\u2019 most famous schools. The whole area is brimming with little cafes, shops and historic red-brick houses too. Oh, also, if you\u2019re hankering for a taste of the city, indulge in a Boston cream pie whilst you’re here.<\/p>\n Read more: Very best things to do in Boston<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Another Massachusetts<\/a> favourite that is sure to bewitch you is Salem<\/a>.<\/p>\n Learn about its dark history, visit sites like the Witch Trial Memorial and the Old Burying Point Cemetery, spend some time at the one-of-a-kind Witch Museum, go back in time by taking a ride on the Fame Schooner, and have a fun day at the Salem Willows Park.<\/p>\n Needless to say, the BEST time to visit Salem<\/a> is October when the witching hour is in full swing!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n For a tasty, totally local, microbrew experience, head over to Salem Beer Works, which has a pretty select range of amazing beers that change almost every week.<\/p>\n Read more: Best things to do in Salem<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n The coastal city of Savannah is pretty beautiful, especially with all that Southern charm.<\/p>\n Take a walk through history at the Historic District (Google Maps pin<\/a>), experience the beauty of the Wormsloe Plantation, gaze at some amazing mansions on Jones Street, take a horse-drawn carriage ride through town, shop at some unique boutiques and antique stores, visit the famous Bonaventure Cemetery or just get spooked on a ghost tour! You can\u2019t leave without chowing down some comforting and delicious Southern food.<\/p>\n Mrs Wilkes\u2019 Dining Room serves up some of the best Southern fare in this part of the country! Just make sure to take elasticated pants. You\u2019ll be stuffed!<\/p>\n This is the only national park in New England, and it\u2019s totally lovely. If adventure is your cup of tea, there are tons of hikes and walking trails to choose from for all fitness levels, including the Cadillac Mountain, Jordan Pond trail, Precipice trail, and Thunder Hole trail that you\u2019ll love.<\/p>\n You could drive along the Park Loop Road, relax at Schoodic Point (Google Maps pin<\/a>) and Sand Beach, or have a fun day at Bar Harbor. One thing is for sure: no matter where you go or what you choose to do at Acadia National Park, the views are to die for!<\/p>\n And last but not least, the Hamptons<\/a>.
