Europe is a gem of a continent to explore, with lots of smaller haunts that don\u2019t seem to get as much attention as the likes of; Paris<\/a>, London<\/a> or Rome<\/a>. I mean, it\u2019s awash with lots of hidden places in Europe. Some within easy reach, others requiring a little more effort – but all are totally worth it!<\/span><\/p>\n

Whatever the case, there\u2019s a whole heap of gorgeous spots that are often bypassed on our amazing continent. <\/span><\/p>\n

1.) Caminito del Rey, Spain<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Now, this is one of Spain\u2019s most incredible hikes, especially with the bridge that spans between the gorge. It\u2019s one incredible place to experience, especially if you\u2019re wanting to explore another side of Spain.<\/span><\/p>\n

The hike itself is pretty intense with El Caminito del Rey Path taking about 10 hours round trip. Obviously, this depends on how quickly you hike but I\u2019d give a whole day to be sure. Be aware, that you can only hike in one direction ( from the northern entry at Ardales).<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s one of the hidden places in Europe that never really gets talked about. <\/span><\/p>\n

2.) Bogliasco, Italy<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Just south of Genoa<\/a> in Italy is the beautiful commune of Bogliasco. This quaint little spot is a great place to spend a lazy afternoon by the sea. Oh, and don\u2019t forget to pop into Al Solito Posto <\/i>for some of the freshest seafood. <\/span><\/p>\n

If you want to explore a little more of Italy, head down the coast, slightly, to visit the five towns of Cinque Terre<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

3.) The Faroe Islands<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

The Faroe Islands<\/a> is an Incredible country to explore and one that\u2019s often overlooked and (hidden in plain sight) in favour of beautiful Iceland<\/a> or Norway<\/a> – but no less impressive!<\/span><\/p>\n

Make sure to visit the Saksun Church in Streymoy<\/a>, ramble to the Mulafossur Waterfall<\/a> on Vagar Island and visit the incredible lake ontop of the cliffs at  Lake S\u00f8rv\u00e1gsvatn<\/a>. It really is one of the more hidden places in Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n

4.) Oravsk\u00fd Podz\u00e1mok, Slovakia<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Oravsk\u00fd Podz\u00e1mok is one of the smaller villages of northern Slovakia and one that often gets overshadowed by places like Bratislava<\/a>. Especially when thinking of visiting Slovakia. <\/span><\/p>\n

Make sure to visit Orava Castle, I swear it\u2019s one of the prettiest castles in all of Slovakia. Once inside, pop into the Castle Chapel, the Knights’ stunning Room.<\/span><\/p>\n

5.)  Ragusa, Sicily<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

Now,  <\/span>when thinking of visiting Sicily, it\u2019s likely you\u2019ll have heard all about places like Mt. Etna, and Palermo<\/a> but you should definitely think of visiting Ragusa too.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nestled in the mountains, around 15 km from the Mediterranean shore, it\u2019s the perfect smaller city to explore in Italy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Possibly, one of the prettiest areas in the region, the Applecross Peninsular is a gorgeous spot to visit in the Highlands. In fact, the whole of the Highlands is stunning!<\/span><\/p>\n

Fondly known as the Albanian Alps, Prokletije is a gorgeous spot to visit when in the county. The highest place you\u2019ll find is the Maja Jezerc\u00eb but the whole region is beautiful too. For some other stunning spots in Prokletije, head over to Rugova Canyon and the Valbona Valley.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trentino is often not a typical idea of Italy. I mean, places like Tuscany<\/a>, Rome<\/a> and Venice<\/a> often spring straight to mind. <\/span><\/p>\n

If you want to edge beyond the usual Italian suspects, you should pop over to Trentino<\/a>, it\u2019s about a 2-hour drive from cities like Verona<\/a> and a perfect region to explore.<\/span><\/p>\n

Head to see the Dolomites, ski the slopes in winter or visit the most iconic music venue you\u2019ll ever find (in summer).<\/span><\/p>\n

This tiny little town is one amazing place to visit in Spain. Perched in the  La Rioja region, it\u2019s one beautiful place you should visit, especially if you\u2019re heading to the nearby Logro\u00f1o<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

10.) Berchtesgaden, Germany<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

About 5 miles or so from Berchtesgaden, the Church of Maria Gern is one of the more hidden places in Europe to explore.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hike to the top, which takes around an hour and explore the incredible views of the region below. There are quite a few trails that criss-cross this area, so make sure you pay attention to which you\u2019re walking on.<\/span><\/p>\n

11.) Whitby, England<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

\"Exploring<\/a> Whitby is one of Yorkshire\u2019s historic fishing villages that\u2019s a perfect spot to visit, especially when you\u2019re in the north of England.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although well-known in England – it\u2019s much lesser known internationally. Head to the gorgeous Whitby Abbey, wander the old fisherman harbour and grab some of the best local food at Estbek House<\/a> or The Star Inn<\/a> – they\u2019re both incredible.<\/span><\/p>\n
