The next morning, we got up early again (a running theme during this entire trip to Nepal<\/a>) and hit the road this time heading back to Kathmandu \u2013 our final stop on our trip across Nepal.<\/p>\n

The journey was actually supposed to be a 5-hour journey but due to traffic, we were told it could take almost 10 hours on the road.<\/p>\n

For this reason, everyone else in our group decided to fly back to Kathmandu. Thing is though, there was a thunderstorm that morning which meant that even the flights that were due to leave at 6am still hadn\u2019t left come 10am.<\/p>\n

Lloyd and I decided to stick to our private bus which meant we had the bus all to ourselves. Ideally, this would have meant some serious napping all the way back but that journey back is actually filled with some rather beautiful sights.<\/p>\n

If there\u2019s anything I\u2019ve learnt from living in London, it\u2019s that sometimes, the slower journey can end up being the more beautiful one.<\/p>\n

Oh and thanks to the rain, the journey took 5 hours as there was no traffic at all anywhere else until we got into Kathmandu (at which point it took us almost 1 hour to get just from one part of town to the other).<\/p>\n

Even our driver and his assistant were so much chattier on the way back. His assistant didn\u2019t speak much English and so was kinda quiet most of the trip – on the way back however, he was unbelievably excited and super chatty! Guess he must have been as excited as we were to be heading back to Kathmandu… \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

The mountains this time looked so different in the rain. Somehow, they looked so much greener \u2013 dramatically offset by the clouds hovering over them. Even the rice terraces seems to have magically sprung more rice since we arrived over a week ago.<\/p>\n

Arriving back in Kathmandu, it was still every bit as hectic as I remembered it being on our first day here. It was less dusty though, due to the rain, but even that changed as the rain water dried quickly.<\/p>\n

We settled back into the now familiar Traditional Comfort Hotel<\/a> and for dinner, headed out to Bhojan Griha restaurant \u2013 a fantastic place (seriously recommend you visit) which is spread over several floors in a historic building in Nepal (it\u2019s like 10 minutes in the taxi from the hotel).<\/p>\n

We decided that night that we would be heading off to explore more UNESCO World Heritage sites outside of Kathmandu the next day and so, with our plans sorted headed off to bed for a brilliant night\u2019s sleep \u2013 pleased to be back in. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
