Italian lakes (usually found in the North of Italy) are famous the world over!<\/p>\n

Lake Como, Lake Maggiore, and Lake Garda<\/a> to name just a few are some of the most popular so it probably comes as no surprise that we decided to visit one of these amazing lakes in Italy.<\/p>\n

Lake Garda was our lake of choice and there\u2019s no better place to explore Lake Garda than in the beautiful town of Sirmione.<\/p>\n

After making a few stops on our drive over from Pizzighettone in our rickshaw<\/a> (again, gotta love that slow travel with the rickshaw \u2013 you truly do get to see some much more Italy this was), we arrived at Sirmione, unsure what to expect.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d never been to Sirmione before and although we wanted to visit Lake Garda (everyone kept telling us to do so even when we were in Verona<\/a>) we were only really visiting Sirmione based on a suggestion by one of the Italians.<\/p>\n

Turns out, they were totally right \u2013 Sirmione is absolutely amazing!<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

For starters, it\u2019s probably the first time I\u2019ve seen a proper castle outside of the one in Milan and even more so, a castle that looks like it wouldn\u2019t be out of place in Scotland or France. You don\u2019t really think of Italy and think \u2018castle\u2019 do you? \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

We marvel at the castle outside for ages from different corners and angles before finally deciding to head into Sirmione.<\/p>\n

Inside Sirmione, it starts to look and feel a lot more familiar \u2013 kinda like when we visited Bellagio and the general Lake Como area<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cute little restaurants and pretty Italian houses lined the streets \u2013 sitting perfectly with the video of that castle sitting in the middle of an Emerald Lake.<\/p>\n

Peckish, we head off in search of gelato\u2026<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

\u2026 which we did find, along with other knick-knacks.<\/p>\n

We ducked in and out of different side streets \u2013 slowly taking in the relaxed vibe of Sirmione \u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026before eventually deciding to head over to our hotel in Desenzano del Garda (another cute town on the shores of Lake Garda).<\/p>\n

Wasting no time whatsoever, we headed out in search for dinner with the rest of our group!<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

Dinner was an absolute treat and a delight \u2013 all the more welcome given how ravenous we were! We started off with courgette flowers, fried in the lightest batter\u2026 followed by a seafood pasta *licks lips*\u2026 soo soooooo good, and decided to ski dessert in favour of more sleep (which I really needed) and also to escape the rain which was starting to rumble in the distance.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t think I was awake for more than 15 minutes once we got back to the hotel \u2013 my lack of sleep the night before caught up with me and I fell into a deliciously comfy snooze \u2013 ready for our adventures around Lombardy in our rickshaw the very next day! <\/p>\n
