Fuerteventura, in the Canary Islands (which, despite being just off the coast of Africa are actually Spanish) is definitely one place that surprised me on our recent travels.<\/p>\n

The landscape here is diverse, absolutely stunning (as you might have seen from this post here<\/a>, this one in the mountains<\/a> and this one with that clear blue water<\/a>)\u2026. and if you pick your hotel<\/a> just right \u2013 it\u2019s the perfect all-year round sunshine destination!<\/p>\n

After spending several days exploring the length and breadth of the island, we finally decided to slow the pace down and do relax by the pool before heading for something of a late lunch\u2026<\/p>\n

The hotel<\/a> has a fantastic restaurant down by the pier and in the spirit of holiday laziness (the very best kind of laziness), we decided to go there for lunch.<\/p>\n

Between the picture-perfect view and the delicious tapas plates that seemed to appear out of nowhere, this was easily one of the best lunch I had in Fuerteventura\u2026<\/p>\n

To \u2018work off\u2019 our lunch, we hopped into the car (you didn\u2019t really think I\u2019d try to do proper exercise, did you?<\/em> \ud83d\ude09 ) and made our way down to the beach to catch the sunset.<\/p>\n

Thing is we arrived far too early for sunset, which was the perfect excuse to check out some of Fuerteventura\u2019s ‘rockier<\/em>‘ terrain.<\/p>\n

The cliffs here, by the way, are sheer and jagged (i.e. justifiably scary) so we all steered clear…bar a few daredevils! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

As the sun slowly began to set, we made our way down to the beach, to soak up the last of the day\u2019s sunshine before returning to the hotel for food and a whole lot of wine!<\/p>\n

The next morning, carried on as the day before, by the hotel pool after breakfast before popping into the spa!<\/p>\n

To be fair, we would be returning to London that afternoon and so it was impractical to do anything but relax.<\/p>\n

In retrospect, this was actually a great way to finish off a holiday as sometimes, you end up piling up so many plans on your holiday that you leave your holiday feeling like you need another one to recover fro the one you just had. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Fuerteventura<\/a> definitely turned out to be so different and so much more than I\u2019d imagined and has definitely made me so much more curious and eager to explore the other Canary islands!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
