Shortly after breakfast in our previous \u2018home\u2019 island in the Maldives, the seaplane arrived to take us to the new one \u2013 Velassaru<\/a> (\u2026via the capital city of Male, of course).<\/p>\n

From Male we hopped aboard the island boat which was waiting for us and before long, the beautiful island of Velassaru<\/a> was in sight!<\/p>\n

The weather had changed quite dramatically in just a few hours and the sun was absolutely scorching by the time we got onto the island!<\/p>\n

Seeing as we arrived fairly early in the day, I decided to have breakfast number two (don\u2019t judge – I was on holiday. \ud83d\ude09 Plus I was waiting for the villa to be ready so\u2026).<\/p>\n

Partway through breakfast, we were informed that the villa was ready and so, once I was done wolfing down the pancakes I ordered, we went off in search of our new home for the next few days\u2026<\/p>\n

This time, we stayed in a beach villa (which is exactly as it sounds \u2013 a villa that\u2019s right on the beach) and were welcomed with even more snacks, fresh fruits and a chilled bottle of bubbly!<\/p>\n

My favourite part of beach villas in the Maldives is the outdoor bath! There\u2019s just something so utterly decadent (and perhaps even slightly cheeky) about having a bath surrounded by nature.<\/p>\n

After pretty much chucking our stuff into the villa, we headed out in search of cocktails and sunshine on the beach, which by the way, is an absolute stunner of a beach. Just look at it! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Before long though, my decision to go for a second breakfast, subsequently followed by cocktails in the sun got the better of me and I pretty much napped my way right through to sunset (in the lounge area of the villa of course \u2013 not in the naked sun). How I managed to do that I have no idea \u2013 especially considering how much I LOVE my food!<\/p>\n

The sunsets here by the way, are a thing of beauty! You\u2019ll struggle to get your hands off your camera shutter once it gets started with its beautiful display of blue, orange and purple hues\u2026<\/p>\n

Even the herons here join in on the action.<\/p>\n

For dinner, we headed to the Sand<\/a> (which is hands-down one of the best restaurants on the island). Here you literally dig your feet into the now cool beach sand (shoes optional) while the waiters see to your every need!<\/p>\n

I started with prawn tempura while Lloyd went for the lobster bisque\u2026<\/p>\n

For mains, I decided to indulge in a whole lobster – which, by the way, is the meatiest lobster I\u2019ve ever had. I\u2019m so used to having regular sized lobsters that I figured I could easily finish an entire one by myself. The lobster was absolutely delicious (soooo soooo good) but it was still a struggle for me to finish it all\u2026 I said \u2018struggle\u2019 not impossible \u2013 I still wolfed it all down!<\/p>\n

Lloyd went for a Maldivian chicken and prawn curry (the curry was amazing and I kinda wished I\u2019d ordered that too \u2013 as well as the lobster).<\/p>\n

For dessert, I decided to try something new and went for the sago pudding, which kinda reminds me of tapioca \u2013 so this was an easy win for me (not many people appreciate how much I love tapioca\u2026 or how delicious it is with coconut milk and cream\/condensed milk *licks lips*).<\/p>\n

Lloyd went for chocolate pudding (no surprised there) and judging from his \u201cMmmm<\/em>\u201ding and \u201cAaaaah<\/em>\u201ding, it was pretty good!<\/p>\n

Turns out, by the time we were done with dessert, we\u2019d been at the restaurant for almost 4 hours which is something that totally took me by surprise (I\u2019m usually done is about a quarter of the time). Island time is just the absolute best and definitely the most chilled! \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n
