Now, the thing about the Cotwolds<\/a> is that, this absolutely beautiful area in England comprises of so many absolutely beautiful little villages and towns so it\u2019s pretty much \u201cuser\u2019s choice<\/em>\u201d when it comes to deciding where to visit.<\/p>\n

\"Inside<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Inside<\/a><\/p>\n

One place I knew I had to visit in the Cotswolds (especially after this post on the most beautiful places to visit in the UK<\/a>\u2026 and our visit to these 3 villages and towns in the Cotswolds<\/a>) was the village of Lacock.<\/p>\n

\"Inside<\/a><\/p>\n

Lacock is considered by and large to be one of the prettiest in the Cotswolds so we headed straight there after leaving Bath<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The journey doesn\u2019t take too long and is strewn with beautiful English houses and farmland filled with animals so it\u2019s so easy to be distracted as you make your way over to Lacock.<\/p>\n

\"Inside<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Inside<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Inside<\/a><\/p>\n

Lacock<\/a> is one of those places in the UK where it feels like time stood still (in a good way). Picturesque English cottages as far as you can see and there\u2019s even an honesty box system here for buying fresh farm produce.<\/p>\n

\"Inside<\/a><\/p>\n

The honesty boxes are unmanned \u2018shops\u2019 where you buy whatever you want and are trusted to pay for it without ever speaking to anyone. I can\u2019t imagine this happening in London (my first experience of it was in the Isles of Scilly) and I find it so endearing. This is the kind of place you raise a family in, I reckon. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s go on a little jaunt through the village shall we?<\/p>\n

Lacock is a pretty small place and so it\u2019s fairly easy to explore on foot!<\/p>\n

\"Inside<\/a><\/p>\n

Before long though, my thoughts turned to food and so we headed over to the King John\u2019s Hunting Lodge Tea Rooms and Garden (now that\u2019s a mouthful of a name).<\/p>\n

\"Inside<\/a><\/p>\n

The place itself is definitely more \u2018tea room\u2019 than \u2018hunting lodge\u2019\u2026 not that I really know what a hunting lodge looks like, come to think of it.<\/p>\n

\"Inside<\/a><\/p>\n

We decided to go for the afternoon tea (at which point I realised the battery on my camera had pretty much gone) which was the perfect excuse to put the thing down and enjoy my tea properly. (The kind folk in the kitchen did help me charge it while we wallowed in the sunshine with our tea and freshly baked scones).<\/p>\n

Fully recharged, we went off to see more of Lacock, especially its Church of St Cyriac.<\/p>\n

By the way, remember the National Trust membership I mentioned before<\/a>? Lacock is another place it would have been handy to have this in as Lacock Abbey<\/a> is also a National Trust building and so entry would have been free if we had gotten the membership to it.<\/p>\n

\"Inside<\/a><\/p>\n

The National Trust is like a company\/government organisation\/charity that looks important places British heritage places.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re the folk that would have taken over places like \u2018Downton Abbey\u2019 (if it were real), after the Crawleys were unable to look after it. Very few \u2018old money\u2019 Brits could afford to look after their estates as time went on so a lot of this went to the National Trust who look after it. (I sound like a salesman for the National Trust, hehehe \u2013 I\u2019m not. I just love the idea of these people looking after these places so we get to enjoy them now \u2013 albeit for a fee!)<\/p>\n

Beautiful as Lacock is, we eventually had to say goodbye and head off to our next stop on our road trip \u2013 Castle Combe!<\/p>\n
