The Norangsdalen valley is easily one of the most enchanting places in Norway!<\/p>\n

It\u2019s one of those places that looks and feels like nowhere else you\u2019ve ever visited.<\/p>\n

\"Driving<\/a><\/p>\n

Crystal clear lakes, jagged impossibly high snow-clad mountains and roads that wind off with the promise of more amazing sights ahead.<\/p>\n

\"Driving<\/a><\/p>\n

Seeing as we had several hours free before dinner, we left the Hotel Union \u00d8ye<\/a> and made our way through the valley, stopping first at that lake I told you about<\/a> \u2013 you know, the one that used to be a village before it got flooded.<\/p>\n

\"Driving<\/a><\/p>\n

The lake is called Lyngst\u00f8yvatnet, and till this day, you can still see the houses underneath the lake.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s particularly great for divers\/snorkelers ,but you don\u2019t have to get wet to see them (more on that further down).<\/p>\n

A little drive down the valley led to prompts (from both of us) to just keep driving a few minutes more<\/em>\u2026 and then a few minutes more\u2026 and then some more\u2026<\/p>\n

It also doesn\u2019t help that every few minutes, one of us would either blurt out a loud and very distracted \u201cWow!\u201d<\/em> or an abrupt \u201cStop the car!<\/em>\u201d (depending on who was driving) \u2013 the photo ops here are absolutely endless.<\/p>\n

Even regular things like these houses (which I reckon is more for the farm than properly residential) are a sight to behold.<\/p>\n

Actually, rather than listening to me gushing – let me just show you\u2026<\/p>\n

Stunning right?<\/p>\n

Eventually it was time to head back to the hotel (we were already running late for our dinner reservation) but not before a quick stop at the lake to check out the houses properly (can you see the start of one in the photo below?)<\/p>\n

Despite several distractions, we made it back to the hotel on time and hotfooted it right to the restaurant, where a 3-course meal awaited us.<\/p>\n

All accompanied by delicious wines, of course…<\/p>\n

We then moved on to mains \u2013 deliciously tender beef! (Seriously, it was absolutely perfect!)<\/p>\n

…and a raspberry cheesecake for dessert \u2013 which we finished off with gusto (and a glass of dessert wine \u2013 can\u2019t remember which one right now, a Muscat perhaps?)<\/p>\n

The rest of the evening was spent doing something I\u2019d wanted to do for weeks before \u2013 absolutely nothing.<\/p>\n

We got ourselves a couple of bottles of the local beers and headed to the veranda where we sat soaking in that cool Norwegian breeze with nothing but the sound of birds and the waterfalls crashing in the distance.<\/p>\n
