For me, Norway’s true appeal lies far from the bright lights of its cities, like Oslo<\/a> (though that’s amazing too). That being said, Bergen is a bit of an exception though with its UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bryggen<\/a> and this amazing view at Floyen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Seriously, nowhere else in the world looks or feels just like Norway and you can follow our full 9-day road trip around Norway<\/a>, too.<\/p>\n

It’s absolutely unique and as wishy-washy as this might sound, it’s one of the places you’ve truly got to see in person to believe.<\/p>\n

We recently returned from visiting a part of Norway I’ve always wanted to visit – Geiranger (via \u00c5lesund<\/a>) and this place truly live up to the hype.<\/p>\n

I’d seen photos for quite some time online and as much as I loved Norway when we visited Flam<\/a>, rode the Flamsbana<\/a> on one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world<\/a> and saw the fjords for the first time<\/a> (here’s looking at you Sognefjord and Naeroyfjord).<\/p>\n

Though, I had no idea how much more spectacular sights Norway had to offer and now all I can think about is when I can return to explore even more of this amazing country.<\/p>\n

I could go on and on about how unique Norway is to visit but I figured I’d rather show you than try to explain it to you. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Seeing the midnight sun (above).<\/p>\n

Finally seeing puffins for the first time on the island of Runde (a big BIG deal for me)!<\/p>\n

Oh, we also saw a sea eagle which is one of the largest eagles in the world!<\/p>\n

Found a lighthouse you can actually stay in (in \u00c5lesund) – it’s tiny but so adorable inside.<\/p>\n

Lake Lygnst\u00f8ylsvatnet in \u00d8ye (above and below).<\/p>\n

This used to be a village but it got flooded following a landslide and you can still see the houses underneath the water.<\/p>\n

A road trip here involves several ferry crossings but they’re actually a lot easier than you’d think. They’re also fairly regular too.<\/p>\n

The suitor waterfall (below) – which is right opposite the Seven Sisters waterfall (from several photos above). There’s a little local tale about the suitor and the seven sisters… more on that in another post though!<\/p>\n

Leaving \u00c5lesund and heading back home in London…<\/p>\n
