We’ve just come back from Portugal where we spend a few days in Cascais (and Sintra).<\/p>\n

Now, Cascais and Sintra are very close to Lisbon and usually visited by as part of a trip to Lisbon but seeing as we had been to Lisbon already<\/a>, coupled with the fact that we had very limited time to spend in Portugal on this trip, we figured it was time to explore a part of Portugal we’d never been to before, and boy were we glad we did!<\/p>\n

Lisbon is amazing (it’s one city I could happily move to<\/a>) but it’s definitely worth coupling a trip to Sintra and Cascais with a trip to Lisbon when you visit. I’m gonna be doing proper posts soon  so I’ll cover it all soon but wanted to share a few photos…kinda like postcards, along with 7 things worth knowing when you visit.<\/p>\n

1.) The train ride from Lisbon to Cascais takes like 30 minutes, leaves approximately every 20 minutes and costs only \u20ac2.60!
\n\"7<\/a><\/p>\n

2.) There’s a beach pretty much everywhere you turn here. The further out you go, the more dramatic the beaches but you have no shortage of beaches regardless of wherever you are in the town.
\n\"7<\/a><\/p>\n

3.) Seafood is a pretty big deal here. It’s a coastal town so this makes sense and they know how to cook up a delicious seafood feast.
\n\"7<\/a><\/p>\n

4.) The tiled streets are pretty fantastic here – definitely an excuse to ‘get lost’ in the pretty streets of the town.
\n\"7<\/a><\/p>\n

5.) This is the real birthplace of James Bond. Ian Fleming wrote the James Bond books while living in Cascais and was inspired by many of the sights here.
\n\"7<\/a><\/p>\n

6.) There’s no shortage of dramatic cliffside scenery here!
\n\"7<\/a><\/p>\n

7.) Due to the fact that Portugal was neutral during World War 2, and given Cascais’ beautiful seaside appeal, Cascais was home to many Royal families and aristocrats in Europe.
