In the village of Gasadalur lies a waterfall you’ve no doubt come across on the internet at some point or the other. Even if you don’t realise you have…<\/p>\n

It’s called M\u00falafossur waterfall and as soon as we hopped off the boat at Vestmanna<\/a>, we decided to make the most of the free time before the next thing on our plans (we had about 5 hours to kill) and head over to Gasadalur… except for about halfway across, we came to the sudden realisation that we hadn’t had lunch.<\/p>\n

Funny the things a bit of fresh crisp air and adrenaline can do to you – I typically NEVER forget to have lunch!<\/p>\n

Lunch however was more of a hurried affair and in a lot of ways true to Scandinavia as we had hotdogs with fries… along with my new obsession, apple crisps. And I’m not talking about that crappy soggy stuff you can get in most stores, I’m talking crunch, 0% moisture, delicious apple crisps. Best part – no added sugar so all my guilt (rightly or wrongly) went out of the window as I worked my way through a bag I’m pretty sure was meant for a family of 4 to share.

We made a few pitstops along the way, partly to appreciate the long stretch of black sandy beach though mostly because we’d taken a wrong turn, and even made a friend along the way…

…seriously, the dogs here are so brilliantly trained and so well-behaved) before heading off to Gasadalur.<\/p>\n

The waterfall – M\u00falafossur waterfall, to be exact – with the dramatic mountain in the distance, acoompanied by the village, make for such an amazing sight to see!<\/p>\n

Again, I can’t believe people get to call these amazing islands their home! You even get a great view of Mykines (the bird island where you can see the puffins in summer time) from Gasadalur. Lucky buggers!<\/p>\n

Before long though, we had to bid Gasadalur in its glory farewell as we headed back to Torshavn for another rather exciting (and adrenaline fuelled) activity! More on that soon…<\/p>\n
