Waking up to sunshine in the Canary Islands and knowing how cold it was when you left London truly doesn’t lose its appeal! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

After our day out exploring Lobos island and sailing the Canary Island, we figured we would spend the next day exploring more of Fuerteventura, albeit on land this time.<\/p>\n

Starting with its stunning sand dunes…<\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

…which stretch as far as the eye can see<\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

…and just beg to be explored!<\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

…perhaps even with the occasional cartwheel or two!<\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

The Canary Islands truly are something special. To think that you’ve gone from one day spent in stunning Caribbean blue-esque waters<\/a> to another day surrounded by sand dunes akin to the desserts of Middle East is kinda incredible to be honest! (And don’t forget those volcanos which are very reminiscent of being in Iceland<\/a>)<\/p>\n

We eventually tore ourselves away from the sand dunes to head further in land…<\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

…whizzing past farms with windmills and old style grain silos.<\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

Till we headed way up into the mountains, which quite frankly, had some of the most spectacular views across the land. Another side of Fuerteventura I had no idea existed and couldn’t be more different from the other parts of island we’d seen so far (these bits reminded me of being in The Atlas Mountains<\/a> of Morocco).<\/p>\n

With those views, we had to stop for photos!<\/p>\n

Our next stop on our island gallivant though was one I was looking forward to – cheese tasting!<\/p>\n

We finally made our over to one of the farms we’d been driving past…<\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

…and before long, we took every opportunity available to sample each and every cheese on offer. (There may have been 2nd, 3rd and 4th helpings… you know, strictly for research purposes… \ud83d\ude09 ).<\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

I have to admit, much as I love cheese, I actually ended up getting distracted by the farm animals! I used to have goats growing up (and sheep… and rabbits… and ducks… and chickens… and much more to be honest) so when I came across the goats, it took me back to my teenage years when I was convinced that all I wanted to do was become a farmer! (I kid you not, I really wanted to be a farmer).<\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

Spotting the goats soon led to the resident farm camel…(kinda random to find on a farm but still fun nonetheless)<\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

…which further led to the little farm piglets.<\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Sand-Dunes,<\/a><\/p>\n

…before you knew it, we’d been on the farm for far longer than the initial 30ish minutes we’d planned just to try some cheese and pretty much had to hot-foot it out of there as we still had one more stop to get to before lunch.<\/p>\n
