Carlos has urged younger football players to learn from his misfortune after several personal issues.

He opened up about his troubles while attending the Portugal Football Summit, as per Globo.

Real Madrid icon Carlos said: “I had problems with people who left me with zero money. Because of agents and family issues, I lost 99 per cent of everything I had earned in football.

“I made mistakes, and that’s why I ask younger players not to make the same mistakes.”

The legendary left-back earned a massive £133m fortune throughout a career that included winning the 2002 World Cup with Brazil.

Carlos was also signed to a reported £85,000-a-week deal while spending the 2011-12 season at Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala.

He was also on the cusp of a sensational move to Chelsea in 2007, but the deal collapsed before he had a chance to sign the contract.

But Carlos has noted that his enormous fortune was nearly wiped away overnight as a result of his personal issues.

Carlos continued: “On a Thursday, I went to bed at midnight, and on Friday, I received a bunch of papers I didn’t even know existed. That’s when I lost my entire history.”

The World Cup winner’s 15-year marriage ended in 2025, leading to a battle for his huge fortune.

This was followed by suggestions that Carlos had been sleeping at Real Madrid‘s training ground, which he fiercely denied.

Carlos has claimed to have fathered 11 children with seven different women, marrying his third wife Soheila Tahiri, earlier in 2026.

His latest financial revelation has come just nine months after he was rushed to hospital with a heart problem.

However, Carlos assured fans that he did not suffer a heart attack and was on the road to recovery.
