Sony’s superhero blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially retained its box office crown across the U.K. and Ireland for a sixth consecutive weekend. The film continues to draw significant crowds, taking in £1.6 million, or approximately $2.2 million, during the latest frame. This consistent performance has pushed the film’s cumulative gross to an impressive $130.1 million, firmly establishing it as a major player in the territory’s cinematic history.

With these latest figures, the project has now climbed to sixth place on the all-time box office chart for the region. Industry analysts are closely watching the film as it sits within striking distance of both Avatar and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Should it maintain this momentum, it is poised to break into the all-time top five, marking a significant milestone for the latest installment in the franchise.

The Competitive Landscape

While the superhero epic leads the pack, the competition remains fierce. Universal’s The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan, maintained its hold on second place during its eighth weekend of release. The film added another $2 million to its total, bringing its cumulative gross to $111.9 million. The ongoing battle between these two heavyweights has defined the theatrical landscape in the U.K. and Ireland for nearly two months.

Other notable performers include Sony’s Insidious: Out of the Further, which secured third place in its third session with $1 million, bringing its total to $8.7 million. Meanwhile, Disney’s animated hit Toy Story 5 saw a rebound, climbing back into fourth place during its 12th frame. The film generated $565,417, advancing its running total to $78.6 million.

Looking Ahead to New Releases

The upcoming theatrical frame promises a diverse mix of event cinema, studio sequels, and wide indie dramas. The release calendar is already active, with Dogwoof launching the sports documentary Lomu. Mid-week debuts include the concert documentary Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger, the thriller Pressure, and the survival sequel Fall 2. Additionally, audiences can expect a 4K re-issue of The Passion of the Christ and the Indian action title Sardar 2.

Friday will see wide commercial debuts across more than 300 locations, led by the fantasy comedy sequel Practical Magic 2 and the action thriller Runner. The latter features a cast led by Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson.
