Hua Hin railway station elevators back in service
The elevators and escalators at Hua Hin railway station are back in service after passenger complaints highlighted disruption and inconvenience when the equipment was out of order.
The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) confirmed that both systems have been fully repaired and operational since 16 April, following a period in which one elevator and one escalator were found to be faulty.
The issue came to wider attention after reports circulated on social media showing that elevators and escalators at Hua Hin railway station were not functioning, causing difficulties for passengers, particularly those with mobility needs or heavy luggage.
Repairs completed after passenger complaints
According to the SRT, once the problem was identified, relevant departments were instructed to carry out immediate inspections and repairs. Safety measures were put in place during the repair period, including temporarily closing access to the faulty equipment and advising passengers to use stairs and alternative facilities.
The SRT also coordinated with Jardine Schindler (Thailand) Co., Ltd., the company responsible for the system’s maintenance, to carry out urgent repair work.
Following completion of the repairs, elevators and escalators at Hua Hin railway station have now returned to normal operation.
The SRT said it has instructed station staff to carry out regular inspections and maintenance to reduce the risk of similar issues occurring again and to improve overall service standards.
An apology was issued to passengers affected by the disruption, along with an acknowledgement of the feedback received. The SRT added that improving accessibility remains a priority, particularly for elderly passengers, people with disabilities, children, pregnant women, and those travelling with large amounts of luggage.
