October 28 could be the biggest day in the history of the Apple MacBook – here’s why
Apple is hosting an another product launch on October 28 where it is expected to reveal the first ever touchscreen MacBook laptop as well as a new iPad mini.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has started to send out invites to an extravaganza in Los Angeles. In a post on X, Gurman calls it an “all-day product launch experience”
The well-connected Apple watcher said there’ll be touchscreen MacBooks, a new iPad mini and new Mac computers running the M6 chips. Previously Gurman had expected the event to be happening on October 27, but it now appears Apple has settled on a date.
The headliner is likely to be the first ever OLED MacBool Pro that offers touch capabilities. This promises to be a landmark moment in the long history of Apple notebooks.
The PowerBooks saw Apple beak into the portable market, the iBook sent them mainstream and the MacBook line has been stratospheric. First Pro, then Air, then Neo. Now we have touch on the way, with the best screen tech available right now. There’s also likely to be some new software flair that arrives alongside the touchscreen model and, as always, it’ll be enjoyable to see how Apple handles this.
Apple has long resisted the idea of brining touchscreen capabilities to its MacBook line choosing instead to go with more Mac-like iPadOS software.
The iPad mini is also expected to rock an 8.4-inch OLED display, while the M6 Mac reference could see Apple refresh its iMac line up for the first time in a while.
