fitbit edge launch

Fitbit Edge launch date confirmed but can it replace the Charge or stand out against the Google Pixel Watch?

Google’s next wearable fitness tracker is launching next week, the company has confirmed with a teaser published to social media that appears to confirm the ‘Edge’ name.

In a post on X from the Google Health account, Google instructs users to “Get an Edge on your health. 10.12.26” – that’s this coming Monday.

The accompanying image appears to show a fitness tracker form factor that aligns with the leaked images that revealed the Fitbit Edge name. The device is thought to be the replacement for the long-running Fitbit Charge series of devices. It’ll sit above the display-free Fitbit Air, but below the full-on Google Pixel Watch series.

Recent reports have suggested there’ll be a 1.34-inch OLED touchscreen display with always-on capabilities. According to the same leaks, there’ll be built-in GPS so you can leave your phone at home for tracking exercise, an altimeter, barometer and some more advanced health tracking capabilities like blood oxygen, and an ECG to help detect possible atrial fibrillation. Seven day battery life is reported, while the Lithium-ion battery could be replaceable, according to the reports.

Unlike the Pixel Watch series, which requires an Android phone for full feature support, the Fitbit Edge will have support for iOS and Android.

According to leaks, it may cost around £159/$180, while the colours could match the new Pixel 11 Pro line-up. We’ll have the full details about the Fitbit Edge right after Google makes the official announcement next week.
