It would be reasonable to expect that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 sales might see some pressure following the iPhone Duo being unveiled. That hasn’t turned out to be the case, at least in South Korea. Here’s something that Samsung will be very happy about. It appears that customers who preferred waiting until Apple launched […]
While Apple’s first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, turned out to be a direct rival to the Galaxy Z Fold 8, the company currently doesn’t have an answer to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which has a bigger screen and a better camera setup. However, the company is already working on a bigger foldable […]
Apple entered the foldable phone market several years after Samsung. It had plenty of time to study the category and understand what existing users liked and disliked. With the iPhone Duo, Apple appears to have focused on answering some of the biggest complaints from Galaxy Z Fold users. It did not necessarily find perfect solutions, […]
Apple spent considerable time talking about the new Siri AI experience during its launch event for the iPhone 18 series and the iPhone Duo earlier this month. For all of its enhancements, it does have several limitations that vindicate the approach Samsung has taken to mobile AI. Most of Siri AI’s core features are only […]
Apple has launched its first foldable phone, and the iPhone Duo appears to have generated a lot of excitement. The interest isn’t limited to tech enthusiasts, either. Foldables are now showing up across social media, including among fashion and lifestyle influencers who may never have paid much attention to the category before. As a Samsung […]
One of the sweetest eye candy pieces that caught everyone’s attention during Apple’s iPhone Duo presentation was the transition animation between folded and unfolded modes. Nothing like that exists on Samsung’s own Galaxy foldables, but a fan-made proof of concept shows that it is technically possible for Samsung to create something similar. At the very […]
Apple unveiled its first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, on September 9. It is an exorbitantly expensive device (outside the USA) that is considerably thicker and heavier than the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Nevertheless, Apple’s first attempt at a foldable has surprised me. I expected the iPhone Duo’s software to look polished. Software integration has […]
Apple’s first foldable phone has several features that Samsung’s latest foldable lacks. However, the comparison doesn’t go entirely in Apple’s favor. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 has some important advantages of its own. Some come from Samsung’s years of experience developing foldable software, while others are basic hardware features Apple has omitted. More powerful multitasking […]
One of the biggest challenges Samsung faced in the early days of foldable phones was dust and water ingress. Creating a dustproof, waterproof phone with a hinge that could fold in half seemed impossible, but Samsung kept working on the problem and improved foldable IP (ingress protection) ratings to IP48 in recent years. Apple did […]
Although the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Apple’s new iPhone Duo share the same form factor, they ended up being two very different foldable phones. Each company clearly has a different vision for what a passport-style foldable phone should be. For example, Apple appears to have employed more exotic materials for its iPhone Duo, including […]
