Understanding please Welcome Bring a Trailer Lot 250,000!
In 2023, we celebrated the 100,000th Bring a Trailer auction after nine years of selling cars. A mere three years later, that number has doubled and then some—as of today, it stands at 250,000 and counting! The online auction landscape has exploded over the last 12 years and continues to grow and change. Through all of that, we can attribute the ongoing, linear success of BaT to “our people.” This site continues to thrive thanks to all of you out there in the BaT community—sellers, bidders, commenters, and staff—coming together every day to labor and wonder over the wheeled and geared contraptions that have so captured our imaginations.

To ring in this incredible milestone, we reached out to our friends at @1600veloce and they came through with a truly incredible specimen in this Ferrari 288 GTO. It’s an occasion any time one of these Group B homologation monsters surfaces, and this one is the first of its kind ever to be auctioned on Bring a Trailer! So, a giant shout-out is due to Anthony, Diane, Gregory, and the rest of the 1600veloce team, who themselves have accounted for nearly a full one percent of BaT’s total auction volume.

We’re grateful for a community that is the defining characteristic of BaT and the main driver of our success. You’ve created a place where camaraderie, humor, and collective knowledge reign supreme, where accountability and education come together to create a uniquely enjoyable environment that has changed the way cars are bought and sold. Today is a good day to thank you all for making BaT the place it is—we truly appreciate you, old-timers and fresh faces alike. Your enthusiastic participation is the magic that makes BaT what it is, and it inspires us to do our best every day.

We also want to express our earnest appreciation for the BaT staff, now numbering nearly 200 of your fellow petrolheads. Our team comprises people of every age, background, and skillset, all of whom have dedicated themselves to the constant improvement of what has become the world’s largest online auction platform for enthusiast vehicles. Randy and the team who turned on BaT auctions back in 2014 are still behind the wheel, right feet planted firmly to the floor, holding firm to their vision of a marketplace defined by transparency, accountability, and community. These values are the same held by our growing ranks of specialists in auction production, editing, customer service, management, and the myriad technical fields necessary to keep everything running smoothly. To be frank, it is an amazing feeling to work for a company where everyone at every level is doing their best to do the right thing.

Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’ve got a few hundred Ferrari pictures to drool over…
