The Kia Sorento has been launched in India at Rs 27.99 lakh, with prices topping off at Rs 40.19 lakh (ex-showroom). It joins the premium three-row SUV segment, and is Kia’s first hybrid car for the Indian market. The Sorento is also the first turbo-petrol strong hybrid to be launched in India, combining a 180hp 1.6-litre direct-injection engine with a 65hp electric motor, funneling power to the wheels via a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. A 193hp 2.2-litre diesel engine is also on offer, paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic only.
