Doors closed for the final time at a Halfords store at North Norfolk Retail Park in Cromer, Norfolk on Friday, September 25.

The popular driving brand has offered car maintenance and free bike checks at the coastal retail park for 16 years.

Staff working at the Halfords, which spans 25,000sq ft, were said to be offered employment by the retailer at alternative branches.

The announcement of the store’s closure initially came in June, where a spokesperson for Halfords said: “We are supporting affected colleagues and offering opportunities at nearby stores where possible.

“We are proud to have served the Cromer community for more than 16 years and thank our customers for their support.”

In recent weeks, the store has launched a sale on a number of items, with discounts ranging between 25 per cent and 50 per cent.

Balance, childrens, adult and electric bikes were all on sale, alongside roof boxes, child car seats and scooters.

On the announcement of the closure, shoppers shared their dissapointment, with one saying they were “very sad to see this” and another saying “how sad to keep seeing all these businesses closing down”.

Halfords currently runs over 750 branches across the country, including over 370 retail stores and 496 consumer garages.

Shoppers in Cromer will now have to travel to Norwich to visit their nearest Halfords branch, which is located over 23 miles away.
