WITH cold days here, I’ve found a way to stay warm without sending your energy bill through the roof: electric blankets.

Perfect for staying toasty without cranking up the central heating, I spotted a price drop on a top-rated design at Debenhams.

Cosi Home Fleece Electric Heated Throw, now £37.99 (was £69.99), from Debenhams

The Cosi Home Fleece Electric Heated Throw is now £37.99, down from £69.99, saving 46%.

It actually works out cheaper than shopping at Amazon, where the same blanket is a few pounds more at £39.99.

Available in brown, grey, cream and green colour options, the blanket is crafted from a cosy fleece fabric, and is machine washable for easy care.

It features 10 temperature settings, which are controlled by a remote control, and a built-in nine-hour timer.

It also has an auto and overheat function so you can use it without worry when you’re falling asleep.

The best bit? Because the output is just 110W, it costs from just 3p per hour to run on the current energy price cap.

The electric throw has racked up an impressive 4.9 rating, with one shopper writing: “It’s well worth the money, I have hardly used the central heating since I bought it and it’s very cheap to run.”

A second added: “Control is easy to follow and use. I have now used it many times, in fact don’t sit down to watch tv without it.

Our dog tends to sit next to me and also loves the warmth from it. In fact I get a dirty look if I don’t put it on!”

While some claimed it ‘does not heat up across the majority of the blanket’, many others reported that it kept them ‘toasty warm’.

Alternatively, the Beurer Cosy Heated Fleece Throw has been reduced from £62 to £32 at Freemans.

There’s also the Silentnight Luxury Ribbed Faux Fur Heated Throw, originally £75, but currently on offer at £55 at Frasers.

And for even more bedroom cosiness, Dusk has launched a homeware sale full of bargain duvet sets — I’ve uncovered the ones worth bagging now.
