EMMERDALE’s Vinny Dingle has been jailed for 10 years in his final scenes – after accidentally killing Jimmy King and Dawn Fletcher.

Bradley Johnson is leaving the role after seven years, having joined back in 2019.

Vinny’s last episode aired on Monday (October 12) with the character sentenced to 10 years in prison.

In August, he accidentally caused a major road accident by looking at his phone while driving.

Jimmy swerved his car to avoid Vinny, crashing into Dawn and Joe Tate’s wedding marquee – resulting in Jimmy and Dawn’s deaths.

Delivering the sentence, the judge told Vinny: “This is a most unfortunate incident.

“I don’t know what it takes for people to realise [that] their actions have consequences.

“No text or phone call is more important than a life.”

The judge remarked she could not ignore that it took Vinny weeks to admit what happened – and she would make an example of him.

She concluded: “I therefore impose a 10-year sentence of imprisonment.”

Vinny and his mum Mandy (Lisa Riley) were both left completely shocked and heartbroken.

Although unbeknown to the pair of them, there was a sinister twist at play.

It was strongly implied that Dawn’s vengeful fiancé Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) bribed the judge to give Vinny a harsh sentence.

She was seen with a briefcase full of money – identical to a case that Joe had in his possession earlier in the episode.

From there, Vinny’s final moments saw him be placed into a cell as he sobbed.

One viewer wrote on X: “Ooh some sentence for Vinny I thought 4/5 at most.”

Another penned: “Wow wasn’t expecting that sentence for Vinny. #emmerdale.”

A third added: “Joe paying the judge off to give vinny a harsher sentence?”
