Iconic UK fireworks display is returning after 5 YEARS – and it’s completely free

A BELOVED fireworks display is set to return to a UK town after a five year hiatus.

The free event usually welcomes thousands of guests each year, but has not been able to go ahead since 2021.

The firework display at Stockton Riverside is set to return this November after nearly half a decade.

The event, which will kick off at 12pm and run into the night, features a funfair, food and drink stalls, and live music.

The dazzling free fireworks display itself, will kick off at 6.30pm, with the council describing it as a “truly memorable spectacle”.

It will feature a choreographed show set to a specially selected modern orchestral soundtrack inspired by the river and water.

Cllr Nigel Cooke, the council’s cabinet member for  environment, leisure and culture, said: “Stockton Fireworks, one of the North East’s biggest free displays, has always been one of the Borough’s most popular events, and we know residents and visitors alike will be excited to see it return on Sunday 1 November.

“With the spectacular River Tees providing the backdrop, it promises to be a fantastic evening for families and friends to come together and enjoy – so you don’t want to miss it.”

Locals could not contain their excitement after hearing about its return.

“Sounds amazing can’t wait,” one said, while another described it as the “best ever”.

Redevelopment work in the town centre led to the event being postponed as the council could not find another suitable area to house a 30,000 strong crowd.
