Man Utd player ratings: Sulky Bruno Fernandes almost costs Red Devils dearly as Tielemans enjoys best week since signing

MANCHESTER UNITED went six games without a win after a 1-1 draw with rivals Leeds United.

Bryan Mbeumo‘s 35th minute goal was cancelled out by Dominic Calvert-Lewin swiftly after the break.

Daniel Farke’s side remain three points above Carrick’s side, who languish 13th in the table with just ONE win in seven Premier League games.

United last won a match on September 10 against Champions League minnows Sabah and face a tricky trip to Como on Wednesday.

Here’s how SunSport’s Katherine Walsh rated and slated the United players from across the Pennies at Elland Road.

Senne Lammens – 7

After some suspect moments, the Belgian responded with a big hand to deny Nico Elvedi’s headed chance in the first half.

He could not have done much about Calvert-Lewin’s close range smack in the 51st minute.

Leny Yoro – 7

Slotted in at right back again, the Frenchman cleared three crosses in first 10 minutes to calm things down.

Has come on leaps and bounds in recent weeks. Delivered a great cross into Fernandes on the hour.

Harry Maguire – 7

The Sheffield-born centre-half was the only defender to finish the match in his natural position. He was solid enough in his battles with Calvert-Lewin.

Maguire marshalled United’s back line well enough in the opening half and caught Leeds offside a few times, but somewhat lost composure in after the break.

Lisandro Martinez – 6

Perhaps had a point to prove after his midweek outburst. Moved gingerly and handled the pressure well, despite some wayward passing.

Replaced at half-time to compound Carrick’s makeshift back-line problems.

Diogo Dalot – 6

Better from the Portuguese who became United’s latest left back amid injuries to Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu.

He kept a high line and improved in forward areas in his left wing-back role.

Carlos Baleba – 7

United’s most promising signing broke up play excellently, winning cute fouls and avoiding being caught himself.

His £70m arrival has allowed Tielemans to move into attacking areas.

Andrey Santos – 6

Did not have too many touches, but looked to play quick forward passes and won most of his duels in the first half.

Played a full 90 minutes on his first Prem start since the opening day and did a job in Kobbie Mainoo’s absence.

Youri Tielemans – 7

The 29-year-old’s best week at United since the club paid his £35m release clause.

Playing in an advanced role once again, his assist for Mbeumo’s first goal was brilliant. Created three chances before the break, but slowed down in the second half.

Bruno Fernandes – 5

Continued his funk. The skipper was at false nine and flirted with a sending off for chewing Darren England‘s ear off and sulked relentlessly.

His head completely went as he booked on 17 minutes for a late challenge. Leeds soon clocked on: the more they tackled, the more he kicked off.

The Prem player of the year has one four Prem games without scoring or assisting – his longest run since April-May 2025.

While fans are questioning his fitness or whether he’s thrown in the towel, Carrick clearly isn’t as Fernandes played another 90 minutes.

Amad – 6

It was a blast from the past as Amad was a right wing-back, where he performed well under Ruben Amorim and proved an effective outlet. His final ball could be slightly better, though.

Bryan Mbeumo – 6

Managed to atone from his sitter to head home Tielemans’ cross in the first half. Pressed consistently and helped set the tone.

Has been pulled pillar to post in several positions this season and has done well to score four goals in this poor team run, but was caught offside too often late on.

Subs

Noussair Mazraoui (Martinez, HT) – 4

Caught in a complete mismatch between him and man-mountain Tarik Muharemovic, who out-jumped the Moroccan to head down into Calvert-Lewin’s path for the leveller from a corner.

Calvert-Lewin could smell blood from then on. Mazraoui had a thankless task on his return from injury.

Mason Mount (Baleba, 74) – 5

Fluffed a shot straight away. Won a couple of fouls to calm the tensions.

Matheus Cunha (Tielemans, 84) – N/A

On too late.
