WATCH the moment an emotional Niall Horan was reduced to tears on stage paying tribute to the late Liam Payne on the second anniversary of his death.
The One Direction singer was giving a performance of his song End of an Era on his Dinner Party tour when a special moment was taken to remember his friend and fellow bandmate.
TikTok user @noorx013 captured the bittersweet tribute online during his two-night residency at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam.
Wiping away tears and turning around mid-set, Niall had to step away from the mic to take a moment as Liam’s voice flooded the room.
In a recording, Liam reflected on his success and how far he had come with One Direction.
He said: “We thought something might happen but never anything like this.
“I was trying to remind myself of where I’ve come from and where I’ve managed to get to in my life. It’s amazing really.”
Fans flooded the comments section of the moment reposted on TikTok with love.
One user shared: “I was there and crying, Liam was with all of us. And thank you Niall for bringing Liam into your song.”
A second said: “I just can’t believe it has been two years already that our beautiful soul has been gone.”
A third added: “Liam, you are so loved and so dearly missed.”
Liam passed away in Argentina in mid October 2024 after falling off of a hotel balcony.
He was away in the country with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy to support Niall while he was on tour in Buenos Aires.
Crowds of heartbroken fans gathered behind a cordon outside the accommodation to pay tribute to the star at the time.
Pablo Policicchio, the spokesperson for the security ministry of Buenos Aires, said police were called to the hotel by a worker about an “aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol”.
Witnesses at the hotel said Liam smashed his laptop and had to be carried back to his room in the erratic incident earlier in the day, TMZ reported.
Cops found Liam dead in the hotel’s inner courtyard at around 5pm local time (9pm UK time) when they arrived.
One Direction competed on The X Factor back in 2010, and finished the show in third place.
