Premier League club’s stadium upgrade ridiculed by rivals after it leaves single seat for ‘Billy No Mates’ football fan — Explained

A PREMIER League stadium upgrade has left a solitary corner seat for a “Billy no mates” fan to sit alone.

AFC Bournemouth are currently expanding their ground — the smallest in the top flight.

And they have almost finished the first part of the project of filling in a corner to add extra capacity.

But the awkward triangular layout of the new seating plan has left the front row with just one seat.

It means the away supporter unfortunate enough to be allocated the lonely position will have to watch the match by themselves.

They will no doubt be singled out for plenty of stick from the noisy home fans who are seated nearby at the Vitality Stadium.

The popular Facebook page Football Away Days was quick to notice the awkward design.

It stated: “Bournemouth have filled in this corner and added extra seats for away fans.

“Imagine getting that one seat right at the bottom.”

Steve Addy commented: “The single seat at the bottom for Mr Lonely.”

Aston Stanley reckoned: “It looks horrendous.”

And Roger Gough wrote: “Billy no mates can sit at the front.”

But others have pointed out the positives of sitting alone — such as watching the game in relative peace, not having anyone blocking the view in front and having easy access for the toilets and bar.

Martin Johnson said: “That’s my dream seat.”

The club is sitting pretty after qualifying for European football for the first time in its history.

Stars such as Eli Junior Kroupi fired them to an impressive sixth place finish in the Prem last season.

The expansion is costing the club £85million and will increase the capacity from 11,300 to 20,196.
