What to Know About brit jihadi bride, 27, who recruited Shamima Begum into ISIS ‘found ALIVE after being linked to Berlin terror attack’

A BRITISH jihadi bride who recruited Shamima Begum into ISIS has been found alive in Syria after being linked to a terror attack in Germany, reports say.

Sharmeena Begum, 27, who left the UK as a schoolgirl in 2014, was tracked down and arrested during a police probe into the Berlin Pride attack.

Her dad Mohammed Nizam Uddin said he had not heard from her in years and thought she had been killed.

The police investigation found Sharmeena had exchanged messages with the man behind the horror in the German capital this July, Abdul Ballout, according to the Mail on Sunday.

He is understood to have sent Sharmeena – who is not related to her ex-classmate Shamima – a video of himself pledging his allegiance to ISIS.

She was allegedly supposed to pass this to the group’s propaganda chief to share online following the attack three months ago.

During the depraved plot, Ballout rammed a van through a crowd of revellers before getting out and attacking several people with a machete.

One woman was killed and 29 others were injured before he was finally shot dead by police following a 24-hour manhunt.

The BKA, Germany‘s FBI equivalent, reportedly passed her phone number on to Western intelligence.

Authorities then tracked her down to a hideout in Syria.

Her dad Uddin told the outlet: “I thought she had been killed in Syria. I am relieved that she is at least alive.

“I did not know she had been arrested. No one from the police or the Government has told me anything about her for years.”

Sharmeena is said to have persuaded her fellow classmate Shamima Begum, the notorious ISIS bride, to join her in Syria in February 2015.

Following the collapse of the caliphate in 2019, Sharmeena remained influential and held on to her extremist ideology.

Shamima on the other hand left and tried to return to the UK.

She was barred entry into Britain after multiple failed attempts at regaining citizenship.

Sharmeena once told an undercover reporter posing as an ISIS sympathiser in 2023 that Shamima was a “failure and non-believer”.

The extremist jihadi bride said her former classmate had “ruined the image” of women who had joined the terror group.

She also mocked her for wanting to “live off benefits” in the UK.

Following the defeat of ISIS and death of the caliphate in 2019, thousands of jihad wives and their children were held in camps by Kurdish forces in northern Syria.

Sharmeena is believed to have escaped from an internment site called Al-Hol.

She is said to have raised £2,400 online for ISIS – money she claimed would be used to help free other women and children still inside the sprawling network of camps.

Sharmeena will likely face terrorism offences in Syria.

The new president, Ahmed al-Sharaa, is a former militant leader whose own group was a bitter rival of ISIS.

If convicted she will most likely be sentenced to death.

Until then, she faces being remanded in Syria’s infamously horrific prison system.

Sharmeena was stripped of her British citizenship several years ago, officials told the Mail on Sunday.

Her dad added: “What can I do? Everything is in God’s hands. I won’t be able to do anything, even if I want to.

“I won’t be able to see her, and she will not be able to come back here, so it’s the same for me her being alive or dead.

“Whatever decision comes from God, will happen.”
