Work progresses on new Hua Hin to Pranburi tourism road
The new Hua Hin to Pranburi tourism road being built under the Thailand Riviera project is now more than 15 percent complete, the Department of Rural Roads has said.
The 44.52-kilometre Tanaosri Khiri Phat route will connect areas of Hua Hin and Pranburi in Prachuap Khiri Khan, with construction expected to be completed in 2027.
Phichit Hunsiri, Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads, said the project is part of government plans to improve transport infrastructure, make travel safer and more convenient, and support tourism throughout the year.
The route runs from the junction where Chai Phatthana Road meets Highway 3218 to Highway 4, covering parts of Hua Hin and Pranburi districts.
Route supports Thailand Riviera project

The Hua Hin to Pranburi tourism road forms part of the Thailand Riviera and Scenic Route development under the Department of Rural Roads.
Officials said the project is intended to improve the coastal road network on the western side of southern Thailand, from Khao Yoi district in Phetchaburi to Pranburi district in Prachuap Khiri Khan.
Once complete, the road is expected to support coastal tourism, improve safety and reduce travel times. It will also provide an alternative to Phetkasem Road, Highway 4, during busy periods, including festivals and long holiday weekends.
The department said the route would also help spread tourism income to local communities and support the local economy.
Construction split into two sections

Construction is divided into two sections.
The first runs from the junction of Chai Phatthana Road and Highway 3218 to Highway 4, between kilometre markers 145+111.491 and 185+766.853.
The second follows Rural Road PKK 1037, from the junction with Rural Road PKK 2030 to Highway 37, between kilometre markers 0+000 and 3+864.638.
The project includes a two-lane asphaltic concrete road with shoulders, street lighting, traffic signs, safety equipment and the widening of reinforced concrete bridges in both directions. The total budget is 699.641 million baht.
Work is currently under way on the road structure, crushed rock base layer, earthworks, fill work and laterite layer.
The Department of Rural Roads said contractors and site supervisors have been instructed to follow required standards and maintain safety during construction. Warning signs, flashing lights and traffic management measures are being used to reduce disruption and protect road users.
