Songkran celebrations get underway in Hua Hin
Songkran celebrations are now underway in Hua Hin, with the city’s main festival kicking off earlier today (Sunday) at Phon King Phet Park and along Damnoen Kasem Road.
Organised by Hua Hin City Municipality, this year’s event runs across 12–13 April, bringing together traditional ceremonies, live music, and large-scale water activities in one central location.
Today’s programme began with performances from local school bands, before moving into cultural activities, traditional games, and the official opening ceremony. As the afternoon continues into the evening, visitors can expect DJs, live music, and plenty of water action.
These photos were taken just after 12pm, with the event still getting started, but it is expected to become increasingly busy and lively as the day goes on and into the evening.
The celebrations continue tomorrow (Monday 13 April) with a more traditional focus in the morning, including a water-pouring ceremony for the Phra Phuttha Sihing, alongside blessings for elders and a procession featuring sacred Buddha images and the Songkran Lady parade.
Across both days, the event features a number of highlights designed to keep crowds entertained, including:
• A 1,000 sqm water tunnel
• A large water park zone with slides
• A foam party area
• A food market showcasing local dishes
The main stage entertainment will run for up to 12 hours, turning the area into one of the busiest Songkran hotspots in Hua Hin.
If you’re heading out on Monday, expect lively scenes, road closures in the area, and plenty of water.
