1 Year Later, Spy x Family Finally Debunks The Main Villain’s Power With a Major Twist
It’s been over a year since Spy x Family released Chapter 109, which shook the fandom with Melinda Desmond’s confession. After learning that Melinda is struggling with family issues, Yor suggested that she consult Loid Forger as his patient. However, fans never expected Melinda to reveal that not only can Donovan Desmond read people’s minds, but she also believes he is an alien. She believes her husband changed completely around the time her sons were born, but doesn’t exactly remember the details. However, Melinda is sure that her real husband is somewhere else in space while an alien has inhabited his body.

Donovan is the primary target of WISE, and he’s also the reason why Loid was assigned to Operation Strix in the first place. Spy x Family Reveals Donovan Desmond Isn’t an Alien
The alien theory always sounded unbelievable to begin with, but the manga already confirmed that he’s just an ordinary human. Or at least, that’s what he wants others to believe. In Chapter 139 Part 2, Anya got close enough to him so she could read his mind. His words were incoherent, making it impossible for Anya to understand what he really meant. However, she realized that not only is Donovan a human, but he also doesn’t have telepathic powers.
This doesn’t mean he is ordinary by any means, since his thoughts about a certain research made Anya remember the horrible days she spent as a test subject. She even went to sleep with Yor since she was unable to sleep after that one-sided encounter. Not only that, but the scars on Donovan’s head also imply he could be a test subject as well. Whether he did it voluntarily or was forced to, he is still somehow connected to what happened to Anya in the past.
Anya wasn’t born with telepathic powers, but she was created in that way so she could prove to be useful to Ostania. As someone of his status, Donovan is aware of many things happening around him. He is hiding everything about himself from his wife and lives as a recluse so people wouldn’t learn his secret. As for what the secret is, the series might take a few months or even longer to reveal more about him.
