Chanel’s invisible sandals trend

Fashion is always  coming up with new and surprising trends but Chanel’s latest sandals have taken the idea of footwear to a whole new level.

Actress margaret qualley recently wore the unusual sandals at the London premiere of her film The Dog Stars.  At first glance it looked as if she had walked onto the red carpet barefoot.

What are “Naked Sandals”?

Chanel’s unique design is being called “naked sandals.” Unlike regular footwear the sandals leave most of the foot uncovered and mainly have a thin design around the ankle.

In many front facing photos it is almost impossible to tell that Qualley is wearing shoes at all.

Social media has mixed reactions

The unusual look quickly caught attention online. Some people found the design creative and stylish while others called it strange and impractical. The trend has once again sparked debate over how far fashion can go in creating bold and unusual looks.

  • Ustad Arif Baloch: The living legend of Balochi music

By Muhammad Naseer Music is more than entertainment; it is a reflection of history, identity, and the soul of a people. Throughout history, musicians have played an important role in preserving languages, traditions, and cultural values that might otherwise fade with time. In Balochistan, few artists have contributed to this mission as profoundly as Ustad Arif Baloch. Widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s most celebrated Balochi singers and composers, he has dedicated his life to promoting the rich musical heritage of Balochistan. By blending traditional Balochi folk melodies with modern musical arrangements, he has introduced the beauty of Balochi culture to audiences both within Pakistan and abroad, making him one of the most influential cultural figures of the region. Born in Quetta into a family where music was deeply respected, Arif Baloch developed a passion for singing from an early age. Recognizing his talent, he received formal training in classical music under renowned teachers Ustad Abdul Sattar Baloch and Wali Mohammad Baloch, whose guidance laid the foundation for his remarkable career. While rooted in classical traditions, he possessed the vision to take Balochi music beyond its conventional boundaries. He later established his artistic base in Turbat, a city that would become the centre of his musical activities and his lifelong efforts to promote regional culture. Over the decades, Ustad Arif Baloch has built an extraordinary musical legacy. With more than sixty albums to his credit, he is among the most prolific artists in Balochi music. His greatest achievement lies in successfully blending traditional Balochi folk music with contemporary instruments such as the guitar and modern pop-rock rhythms. This innovative style introduced younger generations to their cultural heritage without compromising the authenticity of Balochi language, poetry, or musical traditions. His work demonstrated that traditional culture can evolve with time while preserving its original identity. His collaborations with legendary artists, particularly Ustad Noor Khan Bezanjo and Ustad Rasool Bakhsh Fareed, further strengthened the foundations of modern Balochi music. Together, they performed across Pakistan and in Gulf countries including Oman, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, introducing international audiences to the richness of Balochi culture. These performances helped expand the reach of Balochi music beyond regional boundaries and earned it recognition among overseas Baloch communities. Several of his songs have become timeless classics admired by generations of listeners. Tracks such as Jee Mani Dost O, Pari Chammay, Mast-o-Sharaba, and Shar Dila Piske continue to be appreciated for their emotional depth, poetic beauty, and cultural significance. His music reflects the landscapes, traditions, emotions, and everyday life of Balochistan, making each composition not merely a song but a representation of the region’s identity and collective memory. One of Ustad Arif Baloch’s most remarkable contributions has been his role in preserving Balochi literature. Many of his songs are based on the poetry of renowned literary figures such as Atta Shad and Mubarak Qazi. By transforming their poetry into music, he introduced classical Balochi literature to younger generations in a form that was both accessible and memorable. At a time when many regional languages face the challenge of declining use among younger people, his music has helped preserve and promote the Balochi language with dignity and pride. His service to music extends well beyond his own performances. Understanding the struggles faced by aspiring musicians, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds, he established a music recording centre in Turbat where emerging artists could record and promote their work. For many young singers, this studio became their first opportunity to enter the music industry. Rather than keeping his success to himself, he chose to invest in the future of Balochi music by supporting and mentoring the next generation of artists. Despite his extraordinary achievements, Ustad Arif Baloch’s journey has not been free from hardship. Like many regional artists, he worked in an industry with limited commercial opportunities, inadequate infrastructure, and financial constraints. Frequent electricity shortages and the absence of strong institutional support posed additional challenges to music production. In July 2017, he reportedly endured a traumatic ordeal when unidentified armed men abducted him from his residence in Turbat before later releasing him. The incident drew widespread concern and condemnation from members of the artistic community and civil society. Yet, despite this painful experience, he remained committed to his homeland and continued creating music, demonstrating remarkable courage, resilience, and dedication to his profession. Today, many young Balochi singers regard Ustad Arif Baloch as both a mentor and an inspiration. His career proves that success is not measured solely by fame but by the positive impact one leaves on society. He has shown that preserving cultural identity does not require rejecting modernity. Instead, tradition and innovation can exist together when guided by creativity, respect, and a genuine love for one’s heritage. His life also offers valuable lessons for future generations. His perseverance in the face of adversity teaches the importance of remaining committed to one’s passion despite difficulties. His willingness to support young musicians reflects the value of sharing opportunities and uplifting others. Above all, his lifelong dedication reminds us that language, culture, and history are treasures that must be protected and passed on to future generations. Although Ustad Arif Baloch may not have received every national honour that his contributions deserve, the respect and admiration he enjoys among the people of Balochistan remain his greatest recognition. His music has become an inseparable part of the region’s cultural identity, and his influence continues to shape contemporary Balochi music. Through decades of dedication, he has preserved a priceless cultural heritage while inspiring countless musicians and listeners across generations. Ustad Arif Baloch’s legacy is far greater than a collection of albums or performances. It is the story of an artist who transformed music into a bridge between tradition and modernity, between literature and melody, and between past and future. As long as Balochi songs continue to echo through the mountains, deserts, and coastal towns of Balochistan, his voice and his contributions will remain alive. He is not merely a singer but a guardian

Whoopi Goldberg shares the secret behind her bigge…

Whoopi Goldberg has revealed an unexpected secret behind some of the biggest roles of her career. The acclaimed actress recently explained that several of her most memorable movies came after other actors had turned the projects down. Speaking on the podcast Baby, This Is Keke Palmer, Goldberg, 70, reflected on how she landed the lead role in the 1992 comedy Sister Act. The actress revealed that the movie was originally written with Bette Midler in mind. “They wrote that for Bette Midler,” Goldberg explained, according to reports from PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly. Midler ultimately passed on the project, opening the door for Goldberg to take on the role that would become one of her career-defining performances. (People.com) How Goldberg found major opportunities Goldberg explained that she eventually developed a strategy for finding roles that other actors had rejected. She asked her agents to send her scripts that had already been turned down by other performers. That approach proved surprisingly successful. In addition to Sister Act, Goldberg landed roles in movies that had initially been developed with other stars in mind. Burglar, for example, had originally been intended for Bruce Willis, while Jumpin’ Jack Flash was initially associated with Shelley Long. (People.com) Goldberg suggested that her experiences were partly connected to the limited opportunities available to Black actresses at the time. Rather than allowing those barriers to stop her, she looked for projects that had been passed over and found ways to make them her own. Sister Act became a career highlight Goldberg eventually transformed Sister Act into a showcase for her comedy and musical talents. She played Deloris Van Cartier, a nightclub singer who enters witness protection and is hidden in a convent. The film became a major success following its 1992 release, with Goldberg’s performance becoming closely associated with the movie. She returned for the 1993 sequel, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. (D23) Midler has previously discussed why she rejected the role. She explained that she was concerned her audience would not want to see her wearing a nun’s habit. The decision ultimately gave Goldberg the opportunity to create an iconic character of her own. (People.com) Goldberg’s Hollywood lesson Looking back, Goldberg’s career offers an unusual lesson about opportunities. Some of her most recognizable performances came from projects that initially seemed destined for someone else. Her story also highlights how persistence can create unexpected breakthroughs. Instead of waiting for Hollywood to offer her the obvious choices, Goldberg searched for opportunities others had overlooked. Decades later, Sister Act remains one of her signature films, proving that sometimes the role that was written for someone else can become the performance audiences remember forever.

The acclaimed composer recently disclosed that two prominent Pakistani singers were initially approached to perform the song but refused to sing it. Sahir Ali Bagga is one of the well-known names in Pakistan’s music industry. Over the years, he has established himself as a singer, composer and music producer, contributing to numerous popular songs and drama soundtracks. He has also composed successful tracks for leading artists, including Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Known for his deep vocals and ability to hit powerful high notes, Bagga has delivered several memorable songs throughout his career. His popular compositions include Baazi, Mast Malang, Ehd-e-Wafa and Bharosa Pyar Tera. He also enjoys a massive following on Instagram, where more than 1.8 million people follow him. In recent months, his song Mastani has also attracted considerable attention, crossing 5.5 million views on YouTube. Bagga recently appeared on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, Excuse Me, where he spoke openly about the making of Pakistan Zindabad. During the conversation, he revealed that the song was originally composed with two major Pakistani singers in mind. According to Bagga, both singers were expected to lend their voices to the patriotic track. However, neither agreed to perform it. He explained that one of the singers did not even listen to the composition and specifically refused to sing the song because Bagga had created it. The musician said that although he was disappointed by their response, he remained confident in his composition. Since the song had already received approval from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Bagga ultimately decided to perform it himself. He further revealed that singing Pakistan Zindabad was particularly challenging because the composition required extremely high notes. Bagga admitted that he does not consider himself a high-note singer and had to put in significant effort to prepare for the performance. The singer explained that reaching such demanding notes required extensive practice. He worked hard on his vocals and rehearsed repeatedly before recording the song, eventually taking on the challenge himself. Pakistan Zindabad went on to become a major patriotic hit. The song was released on March 23, several years ago, and quickly gained widespread popularity among Pakistani audiences. Its energetic composition, patriotic lyrics and powerful vocal performance helped it become one of the memorable ISPR songs. The song has continued to attract viewers on YouTube and has reportedly accumulated around 249 million views. Bagga’s revelation about the singers who turned down the project has now added another interesting chapter to the story behind the hugely popular patriotic anthem. While he did not disclose the names of the two singers during the portion of the conversation shared, his comments have sparked curiosity among fans about which major artists originally declined the opportunity to perform Pakistan Zindabad.
