Chanthaburi Woman Vanishes, Parents Fear She’s With Dangerous Boyfriend

CHANTHABURI, Thailand – The family of a woman missing for nearly a week has appealed to the public for help after her boyfriend denied seeing her, despite CCTV footage showing him picking her up on the day she was last seen. Chantra Muangkao, 50, told reporters on Thursday that her daughter Wichuda Chansungnoen left home by car at around 8 p.m. on August 28, saying she had errands to run, but the family later learned that the 33-year-old had driven to her cousin’s home and left her car there at around 10 p.m., with CCTV footage subsequently showing her boyfriend, identified as Nut, arriving in a white pickup truck and driving away with her.

The couple had reportedly broken up and reconciled several times, and the relationship had involved physical altercations, prompting the mother to repeatedly urge her daughter to end the relationship. When the mother contacted Nut, he denied having seen her, saying it had been about a month since they last met, and he reportedly blocked her after she told him that CCTV showed him picking up her daughter on August 28.

Wichuda’s 10-year-old son told reporters that he last spoke to his mother on the evening of August 28, when she told him she was travelling to another province to run an errand, and he later contacted Nut to ask about his mother, but he reportedly said they were not together and claimed he was outside the country for work. The mother said her daughter was devoted to her son and also helped care for her, and it was unlike her to leave without contacting them for several days.

Police at Lat Ya police station confirmed that the mother had filed a missing-person report, and officers tracing the white pickup truck said it was last spotted in Chiang Mai, but neither Nut nor Wichuda had been located as of Thursday. The mother appealed to her daughter to return home if she is safe, saying the family remains deeply concerned for her welfare.
