In the Public Square: Dangerous anti-disinformation bills

Disinformation continues to be a serious concern, especially with national elections coming up in less than two years.

The good news: It seems that Congress is finally ready to act. The terrible, horrible, no good, very bad news: The pending bills, especially House Bill 9465, are atrocious. What do we do with these dangerous anti-disinformation bills?

In this episode of In the Public Square, Rappler columnist John Nery is joined by journalist Rowena Paraan of the Movement for Media Safety PH and training director of the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism; and Rossine Fallorina, managing director of Sigla Research Center.

They have been fighting against disinformation for years, and were part of the group that issued a powerful statement against the pending bills.
