Unopposed BFP bets secure Maguindanao del Norte’s 2nd, 5th District seats
COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Members of Parliament Ibrahim Pendat Ibay and Ishak Veloso Mastura, the bets of the Bangsamoro Federalist Party (BFP), have secured seats in the 2nd and 5th districts of Maguindanao del Norte, respectively, during the Bangsamoro parliamentary elections.
Ibay ran unopposed in the 2nd District, where he was a former mayor of Parang, while Mastura ran unopposed in the 5th District.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) proclaimed Mastura as Bangsamoro Member of Parliament-elect for his district at 2:58 pm on Tuesday, September 15, after he received 35,963 votes.
Ibay was proclaimed shortly after, with 43,737 votes.
Their victories have consequently given the BFP a greater advantage in the upcoming Bangsamoro Parliament and the election for the next chief minister.
The BFP is led by Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof “Sammy Gambar” Macacua, who is also running in the 3rd District of Maguindanao del Norte. – Rappler.com
