A New Surprising Amazon Live-Action Anime Adaptation Has Been Announced

Streaming services seem to always be looking for new content, with many platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, Tubi, and more always searching for the next big thing. With the popularity of cinematic universes like the MCU, it makes sense that streaming outlets would be looking to established stories to hit the screen. Unsurprisingly, the anime genre has been rife with possibilities, as many studios are aiming to create live-action takes on classic anime tales. To no one’s surprise, Amazon is also looking to capitalize on the live-action anime adaptation department, though the recently confirmed series is one that many anime fans might not be familiar with.

Amazon Prime Video has announced that Please Save My Earth will receive a live-action television series, landing on the platform in the fall of 2027. Attached to star as protagonist Alice Sakaguchi, actor Alice Hirose will help bring this new show to life. Much like Netflix’s One Piece with franchise creator Eiichiro Oda, Amazon is planning to have creator Saki Hiwatari play a big role in bringing the series to life. Specifically, Hiwatari announced that he was acting as a supervisor to the scriptwriting process and is extremely excited to see his work brought to the “real world.” Director Takahiro Miki will be handling the series, having previously worked on projects such as Until We Meet Again and My Undead Yokai Girlfriend.

Will The Earth Be Saved?

Production I.G.

Please Save My Earth first debuted as a manga in 1986 by creator Saki Hiwatari, running for almost ten years before bringing its tale to a close. Ironically, the first anime adaptation was only released one year prior to its final chapter, with none other than Production I.G. taking on the task of bringing this story to life via films and OVA specials. The story itself follows high schooler Alice Sakaguchi, who tries babysitting her neighbor Rin Kobayashi, but comes to discover that recent dreams she’s been having are far more than she expected. In fact, the dreams aren’t dreams at all, but rather visions of her past life as an alien scientist. Joined by other students who have the same dreams, Please Save My Earth is a mind-bending story that blends drama and comedy with its wild premise.

Unfortunately, Please Save My Earth’s anime isn’t currently available to stream on any official streaming services, so catching up on the story might prove a little tricky. Ironically enough, this series isn’t the first that Amazon Prime Video was looking to give a live-action adaptation. Previously, the platform confirmed that it was working to create a live-action take on The Promised Neverland, which was initially announced all the way back in 2020. No news has been shared regarding what happened to the adaptation and when it will arrive, so the alien anime tale might beat the children of Grace Field House to the streaming service.
