Now it’s the Pixel Watch that’s plagued by a serious bug
A number of Google Pixel Watch users have reported significant issues with battery life, hinting at a potential issue with a recent software update.
We’ve always been fans of Google’s approach to the smartwatch, most recently seen in the Pixel Watch 5.
But the company’s recent software track record has been somewhat spotty to say the least, with bugs plaguing the Google Pixel 11 Pro and other phones running Google’s home-brewed flavour of Android 17.
It’s possible this bug infestation has made its way over to the Pixel Watch series. As Android Authority points out, a considerable number of Pixel Watch users have been taking to Reddit to voice their dissatisfaction with the recent stamina of their smartwatches.
The issue seems to be affecting devices from the Pixel Watch 5, all the way back to the Pixel Watch 2, and everything in between. It’s causing a level of accelerated battery drain that can cut run time in half.
Wearables that could previously last 24 or even 48 hours are now barely making it 12 hours. Other users claim that their Pixel Watch model is losing as much as 20% in a four hour period, simply sitting idle with the Always-on Display deactivated.

Pixel Watch battery bug – potential cause and fix
The battery performance of all smart devices degrades over time, of course, but the fact that this has only just started affecting a wide range of Pixel Watch wearables suggests that something is amiss.
It’s evidently a software or app issue, so if you’re suffering from decreased battery life on your Pixel Watch, it’s worth going through the usual restart cycle process.
Some affected Pixel Watch users have reported success with the nuclear option, consisting of a full factory reset of the device with no data backup restoration.
That’s far from ideal, of course, so most people will simply need to wait for Google to sort the issue – starting with acknowledging that there’s actually a problem. Over to you, Google.
