Latest Pixel 12 leak suggests a curious change
Next year’s Google Pixel 12 range is set to change things up on a fundamental – and somewhat strange – level.
This year’s Pixel 11 series represents a fairly minor update, with minimal hardware changes accompanied by an unwelcome (if unsurprising) price hike.
However, 2027’s Pixel 12 series could be a little different, if early reports are anything to go by.

Smartprix has spotted a leak (attributed to OVRPlus) suggesting that the Pixel 12 series has appeared on the GSMA IMEI database. There isn’t an awful lot to be gleaned from such a showing, but it does provide an initial look at the display resolutions that Google looks set to be offering.
Usually these are pretty dull listings, given that display resolutions don’t tend to change all that much. What’s interesting this time is that they have.
The base Pixel 12 (attributed to model number GC0QU), Pixel 12 Pro (GWU59), and Pixel 12 Pro XL (G7U1Y) all have slightly fewer vertical pixels than before.
What this all means for the Pixel 12 series
We’re not necessarily talking about a downgrade here. Rather, it suggests the Pixel 12 series displays will have different, slightly wider aspect ratios.
Again, we’re talking about a very minor shift here. The standard Pixel 12, for example, supposedly drops from 1,080 x 2,424 in the Pixel 11 to 1,080 x 2,400.

Just as interesting is the one exception here. The Pixel 12 Pro Fold’s internal display is set to get even sharper, from 2,076 x 2,152 in the Pixel 11 Pro Fold to 2,296 x 2,404.
This also indicates that Google isn’t about to jump on the wide foldable bandwagon (alongside the iPhone Duo and the Galaxy Z Fold 8) just yet.
Or if it is, then this new hypothetical Pixel Wide isn’t currently on track to be part of the Pixel 12 rollout in late 2027. All will be revealed… eventually.
