A Look at galaxy Tab S12 Ultra finally surfaces – and its launch date could be locked in
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra has just appeared on a popular benchmarking tool, suggesting it’s on course for launch soon.
Last week we asked the question ‘Where is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S12?’ This followed a total no-show for Samsung’s new premium tablet range at its latest launch event.
We don’t have a solid answer for that just yet, but the flagship Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra has just been spotted out in the wild. Samsung’s next super-sized tablet has made an appearance on the Geekbench 7 benchmark website.
It’s going under the code name of the Samsung SM-X940, and it’s confirmed to be running a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip with 12GB of RAM.
The results aren’t bad either, with a single-core score of 2760 and a multi-core score of 9291. By way of a comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra attained a multi-core score of 8488 in our testing last year, which would suggest an almost 10% performance improvement.

Fast, but not that fast
To be clear, however, this still wouldn’t place the Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra at the front of the Android tablet pack when it comes to raw performance.
Those few tablets that run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip are able to attain much higher scores. In my testing, for example, the RedMagic Astra 2 scored 3725 single and 11678 multi-core, which is about 25% faster than Samsung’s new tablet.
That’s hardly a mainstream tablet, however, and it’s not one you’d want to do much on besides gaming. The good news here is that the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is coming, and that it’s on track to provide a performance upgrade, minor or otherwise.
Still a while to wait
While the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra’s appearance on Geekbench 6 confirms its existence, don’t expect an official launch in the next week or two.
Instead, a report from leaker ‘fireuniverse’ last month pointed to it being unveiled alongside the Tab S12+ on 7 October 2026.
Just like the Tab S10 series, there’s no sign of a regular Tab S12 joining the lineup.
